Pushchair sunshades - are they worth it?

Am obsessed with keeping DS out of the sun (he's 10mo). I've got a parasol but it doesn't give very good coverage and he's always pulling it/trying to play with it. Has anyone invested in a proper sunshade and if so, would you recommend them? I see that they sell one in the bumpto3 catalogue for £14.99. Thanks.

I used to drape a sarong over DS's pushchair, or use a 'shade-a-babe - but I don't think he would have tolerated that much beyond 10 months! Parasols always looked flimsy and as if they would catch on everything, and presumably you have to keep moving the position? I used to put the hood up and drape a sort of visor of fabric down over the top, so that DS could still see out.

We have a parasol shade and dd was exactly like your ds, pulling and playing with it and moving it out of position. Kept her quiet in shops though. Not sure what we will use this year as she is now 19 months and quite strong so think she may be able to pull it off completely. I am sure I have seen a full pushchair shade somewhere, similar to a raincover, I will try and remember where.

Oliveoil: that's the Shade-a-Babe. You can get them in J Lewis and other places, different ones for buggies, 3 wheelers etc. They keep insects out too. or you can use it at 'half mast'. But older babies feel a bit shut in if awake, and can't see out much.

aha, thanks Blu. Was thinking whether to bother or not getting one. She has now got to the stage of throwing hats off as well grrrrrr

Blu, when you say older babies feel shut in, do you think this would apply to my ds at 10m? Perhaps half mast is the answer. I have also seen one in the JMB catalogue for £12.99, perhaps I should just buy it. Olive Oil, my ds also keeps taking his sunhat off. He does the same with bibs too. Grrrr indeed.
