SunSuits -Mail Order?
berries · 20/05/2002 14:44
Anyone ordered sunsuits mail order from abroad? I have spotted some Ozzie websites & they are much cheaper than UK ones (&have more choice - partic. in larger childrens & adults sizes) but wondered if anyone had used them, knew delivery times etc.
Suew - I believe you recommended one at some stage, did you order from UK or Oz?
Would like to order from Oz, but a bit worried in case it takes 3 months (& therefore misses holiday)
Hope someone can help

Berries, I too am interested in particular in trying to find a site which enables you to order Splosh suits direct from NZ. We had one last year which we really liked but paid a fortune for it from Urchin. But...I tried Google a couple of weeks ago and not only did I not find anything suitable, a search using "splosh" and "children" and "swimsuits" produced some mighty weird results.
SueW, Mollipops, Bloss - any ideas gratefully received from me too.

On a slightly different note - I've just got one from 'Dunnes' (shop, not mail order) for £6 - and according to the label it's got a SPF of 40. It's not as well made as the more expensive ones, but I'm sure it won't fall apart before ds grows out of it! Also seen cheap ones in Woolworths - for about £10 I think.
Don't know if this helps....

Berries and Marina, SueW recommended an Aussie company called CWear (I remember saving the site to my favourites last year but didn't get around to ordering). If you look on the thread under Health called 'Sun Exposure', Sue has done a link there and a bit more info about the products. HTH

I tried to type a long response to this last night but for some reason the links weren't working. It always happens when I try to put more than one link in a message
The company I recommended last year is CWear . I bought their stuff whilst in Australia and friends here ordered direct from the site. Good, efficient, prompt service with a max 10 dollar (less than 4 quid) delivery fee no matter how much they ordered so they clubbed together. Stuff was delivered in around a week I think but would probably have to check my old thread!

Another friend in the US has recently used Stingray , also an Australian company. She ordered her stuff on the Tuesday and it was delivered on the Saturday. Pretty good eh?

Marina, Sposh seems very elusive to get hold of unless you want to buy it in the UK! I managed to find half a dozen UK places that sell it using Google but of course only at the vastly inflated prices they feel they can charge over here.
I used to buy Bobux direct from a contact in NZ who would charge me around 6 quid a pair plus postage which still worked out at about half the price they cost over here. Unfortunately she's now closed her shop and I don't have contact details any longer.
I'll email my SIL in Wellington and see if she knows any way we can find more Sposh for you.

bossykate · 21/05/2002 21:48
not mail order i know, but i bought ds a sposh sun/swimsuit from Peter Jones (part of John Lewis partnership) and it was £11 cheaper than urchin or blooming marvellous. john lewis has a website, so may be available there.
hth.
GillW · 21/05/2002 23:00
You can get "Platypus" sunsuits for age 2+ online from John Lewis (www.johnlewis.com/corp/msearch/msearch.asp?qu=sunsuit) at £29.50 but you can get £10 off with a voucher from ukfrenzy if you haven't bought anything from them online before.
Sorry about JL link being not correct format - for some reason this BB software won't take that URL....
Marina · 22/05/2002 09:11
Thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated. I particularly like the Splosh range because they are cotton mix and because I am a sucker for the Edwardian striped bathing suit look, so I will definitely check out the John Lewis website and shops. I think an £11 mark-up by Urchin is excessive, particularly as I am still waiting for a reply to my query about whether the larger sizes have gusset poppers - sent a fortnight ago.
Ems · 22/05/2002 13:58
Marina, let me know outcome, am also looking for the stripey one, cheaper than Urchin, what age can you get them up to, do you know?
Marina · 22/05/2002 14:30
They do them up to six, Ems, but not sure when they stop doing openable crotches. Ds is nearly 3 but we want aged 4 for him. Will let you know what's on offer at John Lewis.
GillW · 23/05/2002 11:04

We've used the Lion in the sun ones, slightly more expensive than Boots but nice quality and you can hand them on. www.lioninthesun.com
savoycabbage · 08/03/2012 00:43
Ironically, I was going to get one from Next as it was cheaper than buying one here in Australia.
