I got my first one last year at some point.

And this morning I noticed a cluster near my hairline.

What can I use to dye at home - semi permanent please - that doesn't stink and make the bathroom orange.

TIA.

I'm like you oliveoil.. just started to go grey... i've got the odd 10 or so... I use superdrug colour effect wash-in-wash-out colour Its like a colour shampoo.. it just blends in your grey and leaves your hair really really shiny... you can leave it on for up to 20 minutes, and its really natural.

you could always be a model if you go to a salon, or is there a local college nearby that also needs models...

Another vote here for L'Oreal Excellence. My DP applies it for me every 4-5 weeks, and people can't believe I don't get it done in a salon! I used to, but the cost was making me feel sick - I couldn't carry on paying hundreds of pounds for the rest of my life. My hair is about 50% grey in places. Just buy a hair dying brush from Superdrug and your DP/DH can do it. We always have a good chat while he is applying it and he enjoys it and feels proud of his work!

Cant believe you are only just getting grey hairs oliveoil!
I have been going grey since i was 15

Shit ,just realised thats over half my life

I always use Garnier nutrisse on my hair as it doesnt have that really stinky amonia smell, and you apply it to dry hair.
You would probably only need a wash in dye though.

awww bless your heart Snowbell... I can just imagine you and your DP having a good chat whilst he's doing your colour.
"doing anything nice this weekend then"... or "are you going anywhere nice on holiday" "something for the weekend"
I'm was a hairdresser so I know all the chat....

I dye my hair at home, and this method is foolproof. Buy one of the fade-out colours (Casting, Movida etc) that last for 24 washes, but MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE AT LEAST TWO SHADES LIGHTER THAN YOUR NATURAL COLOUR. That way, the greys in your hair will be coloured slightly lighter than your natural colour - instant highlights, without any root regrowth or obvious dye. The only drawback is that you have to do it every 4 weeks or so, but you can usually get them for under £4, so it would still be about £50 over the course of a year.

Don't you have a college close to you that runs a hairdressing course. Ours does and it has a salon where it only costs £6 for a permanent colour, cutting is about £4. They also do beauty treatments really cheaply. It does take a bit longer than going to a proper salon as the students have to check everything with their tutor first, but the students are very good. I was very impressed when I went just before chrismas.

I have no idea if I have any greys yet!!

I keep thinking I can see them but when I pull them out they are highlights..

Dh is getting a few we are both 33. He is almost 34 though
