Wilkinet sling - suitable for use after a CS?

I have decided to buy a Wilkinet sling after reading the various threads on here and the Reviews section. My DS will be almost 3 when this baby arrives and I am likely to have a CS. That being the case, I won't be able to drive and my big idea is to take DS to nursery on the bus or train. I'm hoping he will walk, or if pushed I will take his buggy, and I will carry the baby in the sling. Can anyone who has used one tell me whether this is realistic after a CS before I order it?
Thanks in advance.

Hiya - I had a wilkinet for dd2 who was my 3rd CS and I was fine with it.

I found that because it is so soft and light and 'hugs' your body, it didn't put too much pressure on your wound/back/belly etc

How soon after cs arew you hoping to use it? I can't remember how old dd2 was but I think def less than 6 weeks.

I seem to remember using a wilkinet with dd1 when she was tiny after my c-section

but it's all so hazy now

Thanks! DH will be off for the first 2 weeks after the CS and will do the nursery drop off and collection but I will need to do it for the 4 weeks or so following that without the use of a car. So the baby will be only a few weeks old but sounds like it should be OK. Do you know roughly when you stopped using your slings?

With DS I borrowed a Baby Bjorn and used it at around 10 weeks but I found it really sore on my neck and shoulders. The Wilkinet looks better than the Baby Bjorn but I would like to be able to use it for a few months at least. Is it horribly complicated?

I stopped using the wilkinet when she was about 6 months or later!! It was soooo comfy!

I used a tomy one with ds and hated it, it was all hard and baggy!

I bought mine second hand from someone on here.

I used a wilinet a bit, I wouldn't have used it straight away after my section, but pretty soon after, even just lifting babes at first was a strain . DS wa a huge baby so he was heavy to carry about anyway so that was one of the reasons I didn't use it as much as I wanted too. I did use it when he was older when I was getting the bus with the pram I would walk to the bus stop with buggy and him in the sling so I could get on the bus easier.

Dh loved carrying him in it especially when he could face forward as DS loved this, I used to carry DS on my back with it too.

Once you are up to manageing prams on and of buses then you should be OK with the sling and a normal sized baby . DOn't rush this anyway its amazing how much you use those muscles to push and turn a pram.

But Once at the destination it could be very tiring carrying babes about in the sling for long aswell as pushing the pram. would DS manage on a buggyboard so babes can go in a pram.

Hi Skribble, I intend to buy a buggy board for our Jane so the baby will be in the pram and DS will be on his "special skateboard" most of the time. My pram problem is that the train station at nursery has two flights of stairs and whilst I think I should be up to pushing the pram, I don't particularly want to be bumping it down the stairs. We could get the bus with the pram but it's quite cumbersome so I thought walking with DS and baby in sling would be the best option.

Thanks to everyone for comments, I think I will go ahead and try one.

if you can get one second hand save money and if it doesn't suit not to much of a loss and sell it on.
