Hi This is WWB's DH

We have hasd a Touran now for about 6 months and 11,000 miles. Very pleased with it. Had a Picasso before and this is far better. We have go the 7 seater SE with the 1.9 101bhp diesel engine. It all seems well put together and thought out. I do a lot of long journies for work and find it very comfortable. With the three of us in it we have gone from Midlands to Cornwall very much in comfort.
If you need any information please ask as when I can get on the computer I spend time looking a a geek (according to DW) site called clubtouran (at least they don't talk about nappies!!!!)

Clubtouran - omg!!

We had a Peugeot 807 ( 4 kids)

I have been towed back form London trwice in it now - this time they think it is the Cam belt.

Looking at 1500 quid just to strip the engine - so thinking maybe buying the Touran and giving them the P.

Touran has 3000 miles.

What do you reckon?

The Touran is not as big as the 807 so you would need to see how it felt with all the kids in. The third row seats are more for kids/ocassional use. The 2.0 L diesel is a very good engine, we would have had one but the price/tax was a bit too much. The SE is well equipped so it looks like you have a good deal. I am not sure on the second hand prices but that does not look bad for 3,000 miles.

I guess as our kids are stil young, would mean htat they would be ok in the back seats. Although we do occasionally do long journeys -

dh looked at me aghast when I said clubtouran - no way wold he care!!!

We've had dd in the back seats a couple of times. She has quite a large car seat and it fits pretty well, she's only 5 but quite tall and is perfectly happy and comfortable sat right in the back.

Dh is 6'2" and can get into the back seats with a bit of a squeeze; he wouldn't want to travel for very far in them but for an adult they'd be OK for a short journey. The very back seats fold really easily into the floor to make a flat boot space, and unlike the Zafira you don't have to fuss with the middle seats to get the rear ones out of the way.

Will you get a chance to test-drive it - see how it feels? Or maybe pop into a VW dealer with the kids for a few minutes and try one in the showroom?

I am goiing over there tomorrow - not with kids sadly.

We've had one for just over a year, bought 2nd hand with 11,000 on the clock, same model as WWB's. I love it, and with 4 children the very rear seats are in frequent use and I get no complaints from the younger ones (9,7 and 6) although the oldest refuses to contemplate them. Best of all you can put them up or down one handed.

It's easy to drive, loads of storage space and though I think it's a little dull inside it is very practical and is very economical doing around 45-50mpg, and 56mpg on long journeys. I would be happy to have another one as it does everything I need and is (so far) completely reliable.

nearlymybeetrootday · 14/01/2007 14:26

molecule - so with al 4 kids in you can still pack up the car for holiday?

the one we are thinking of is an automatic

I tend to take the children by myself as dh is a farmer. Have to say if we were all to go it would be a tight squeeze as we would only be able to have one of the very rear seats down. If both are in use there is virtually no luggage space - just enough for 3-4 supermarket carrier bags, which then fall out when the boot is opened.

If you need 7 seats and luggage space I think you will need to go for the "grand" versions of Espace or Voyager. Our VW Sharan had no more room than the Touran for luggage despite being much bigger.

that is interesting. I am thinking maybe I should gt the Peugeot mended and keepit. Size wise is is perfect
