We have just bought a tripp trapp chair for our dd who is nearly 6 months old. It was quite expensive (£140) but as it will last - it can be used as an adult chair - we decided it was worth it. It doesn't have a tray but goes right up to the table and it also matches our table quite well. She loves sitting up in it.

Hi Sunlounger! We have just bought the Prima Papa from Mamas and Papas for our daughter (also 6 mths). The things I like about it are that it reclines back (DD is only just sitting properly on her own, so I think she finds it slightly more comfortable), the height adjustment is really great as it is on grippers rather than slotting into position (this means you can set the height wherever you like!), it folds easily and stands on its own once folded (you don't have to lean it against a wall). DD isn't using the trays yet, but there is a top tray with a cup holder which you can detatch, leaving a deeper tray for toys, finger foods etc. It is a bit tricky to clean, as the seat cushion has lots of nooks and crannies. You can take it off and give it a good scrub though! We think it's good, and DD loves sitting up at the table and joining in at mealtimes!! We didn't look at many alternatives as we wanted to get something robust but which folded incase we needed to take it somewhere. Good Luck with the search!

love our trip trapp, suits our whole family dining style....

jennifersofia · 30/05/2004 22:55

Had our Tripp Trapp for 3+ years (and 2 kids) and still using it all the time, still think it is great. Easy to clean, flexible etc.

Agree about the Tripp Trapp high chair though they are rather expensive. Ds2 is 4.5 mths and it wont be too long b4 we need a chair for him and luckily for us we have good friends who are more than happy to lend us their TT. I like it because it doesn't take up any more room than a normal chair and is v easy to clean etc. Perhaps you may come across one second-hand. If you can afford one though, I highly reccommend it.

Mumsnet's Highchair reviews were recently updated by my own fair hands!

what's the collective noun for Tripp Trapps? Got a herd of three here... I like the coloured ones too, we've got one each of natural, blue and red. They're not cheap (but no more expensive than the Chicco Mama or the Prima Pappa) and you might be able to save a few quid by getting a baby set from ebay as most people only need it for a year or so.

cazzybabs · 31/05/2004 09:14

Another trip trapp fan here - although the name inspires me to tell the story of the three billy goats gruff.

Hulababy · 31/05/2004 09:51

Yet another Tripp Trapp fan here too. We love it. Used it since DD was 5 months, she is now 2. It'll last for years. I wouldn't buy anything different now, having used it.

JeniN · 31/05/2004 10:55

I got a mamas and papas zeddy and rhubarb one for about £35, not as many features as the prima papa but I think it looks nicer and is a plain colour (light yellow/brown) has a lovely big easy clean plastic tray for chasing around those finger foods. The original harness was hopeless though, and too fiddly, so we've had to adapt it.

Soozi · 01/06/2004 20:05

I was given a mothercare one but tbh I find it a bit footery with the straps. Have also caught my finger in the clips a few times which hurt like hell so I'm very cautious of the same happening to DD. From staying at a friend's house they had a real old fashioned one - a wooden thing with just a bit between the legs. It was great and really easy for getting DD in and out of. Don't think you'd be too safe leaving her in it unattended though but Ikea do similar modern versions which are pretty reasonable.

"what's the collective noun for Tripp Trapps?"

Well geekgrrl, instead of the Von Traps, you could call yourselves the Tripp Trapps. Fnar fnar.

We got this one, but it is a bugger to clean the bottom part. Wish we could have afforded the Tripp Trapps but with ds twins we have the curse of having to buy two of everything!

Cut and paste this:

if this doesn't work
