Baby wipes

Would it be correct to say that baby wipes are not antibacterial and do not possess any soap-like qualities and therefore that you really shouldn't use them as a replacement for washing with soap?

If so, why don't they make them antibacterial?

yes, it would.
you're best off not using them at all, they're just full of nasty chemicals and crap

Furball · 11/01/2007 07:34

They do do a good job of skirting boards, leather sofas and shoes though.......

Edam · 11/01/2007 07:44

Yeah, that's why Johnson and Johnson slipped up, making those ones with baby lotion. No good for cleaning.

McDreamy · 11/01/2007 07:49

Surely there is no need for thwm to anti bacterial as they are generally used on children's skin (except for the leather sofas and skirting board uses!!) If they were antibacterial they would be too harsh.

Also if antibacterial properties were incorporated into tehm they wouldn't be particularily efficient as antibacs are less effective when they come into contact with organic matter, first clean with soap and water and tehn usew antibacterial sprays etc for maximum efficiency but this is more with hard surfaces and not appropriate for children's skin.

furball , dont use baby wipes on your leather sofa it has took the colour out of my friends and when she rang the insurance about it they said it is very common with wipes and not to use them on leather.

jalopy · 11/01/2007 08:20

very good for cleaning floors, kitchen appliances, radiators and paintwork. Wouldn't be without them.

McDreamy · 11/01/2007 08:24

apparently good for getting stains out of carpets too!

Quootiepie · 11/01/2007 08:25

Brilliant on taps aswell and my kettle

BettySpaghetti · 11/01/2007 08:26

And for cleaning trainers.

McDreamy · 11/01/2007 08:27

Maybe we should start a "101 child free uses for babywipes"

Do you think we would get enough?

danceswithnewboots · 11/01/2007 08:29

LOL Mellowma

I have seen the second season - I ended up buying it from America as I can't get it here and couldn't wait any longer. I'm afraid no-one will compare to Derek !

Trying to download series 3 as it's started in the USA but you have to be in the US to download it at the moment

NannyL · 12/01/2007 22:16

you dont need things to be antibacterial all the time

simple washing with conventional soap and water is fine cause it washes the gems off your hands (as long as you wash properly)

I agree that there are must be at least 100 uses for baby wipes that dont include wiping babies bums!
