buying clarks online

Anyone know of a site that sells childrens Clarks shoes online? I've just traipsed into town and back (45 minutes drive each way), found out what size dd is but they didn't have any in her size. And I could order them but they won't post them to me. There must be a website that sells Doodles?

There is a clarks outlet store close to me. (cheaper than regular store).Let me know the size and style you fancy, and I could buy and post them to you.

Clayhead · 27/05/2004 17:30

I can't see anywhere selling them on line.

I have just had exactly the same problem as you with a pair of doodles, surely you must be able to buy online somewhere.

john lewis will post most things to you

It's a nightmare!! I'm convinced its a conspiracy by Clarks and Startrite. Last year I had exactly this problem. I bought my dd and ds shoes and around June time, they both had growth spurts and I had to go back and get some doodles and sandles for them. BUT, no sandles AT ALL (no style) for my dd in her size and she had to wear boys sandles the whole of summer. And I went into EVERY shop in Kingston, Teddington and Richmond (and I hate shopping).

As you can tell, I was not amused. This year, I have bought them 2 pairs of doodles, each a size bigger than the ones they're in now - and they have just out grown both gggrrrr. I think this is the only time of year that their feet grow.

ANYWAY, to answer your question. I don't think you can get them online. I'm afraid I would do the traipsing just to get them because if they are anything like last year, in about a months time, you won't be able to get any!

Hope this helps .... Clarks - Kids
I did the same trek around town - but the website didn't even list the style that DS wanted. Ended up phoning around the local stores and got them to put it aside for me.

Ebay sellers also have clarks shoes if you know what size your after.

LadyMuck · 27/05/2004 22:37

Would second John Lewis - they sell Clarks, they take orders and they do post. Don't even try to get in touch from 20th August onwards though - they're a nightmare due to everyone buying school shoes.

zebra · 27/05/2004 22:46

Um... but surely the size they measure up is only a starting guideline and then you need to make sure that any particular make/brand/design really fits ok? Because some shoes are cut a bit large or small or narrow or wide? Speaking as someone who only buys in ShoeZone or similar cheap shops, but I don't think I would buy shoes mail-order unless I was prepared for at least a moderate chance of poor fit.

Mind you, I don't like buying anything mail order for the same reasons in general, anyway.

And of course, DD would take one look and refuse to wear whatever I picked out, anyway.

crystaltips · 27/05/2004 22:50

Totally agree zebra ...DS measured at 3 and when we put it on his toes were right at the end. Salesgirl said "oh they all fit differently" - makes you wonder why they bother measuring in the first place !!

Megali · 27/05/2004 23:12

The lady in our local Clarks told me once that buying doodles at Easter was too late - must be meant to buy them after Christmas!!! Do kids' feet not grow before the summer? I always thought shoe fitting (for kids) was a scientific process - am now totally disillusioned - we have had feet measured differently by different shops on the same day, shoes with insoles, etc, etc.

I had a nightmare recently finding my 3year old shoes. Local Clarkes store said she was 9F but after 45 mins we could find none in that size that were actually comfortable in that store. They said the next size up would be too long.

A few days later we went to the clarkes in a neighbouring store after a lot of fuss they decided that she was 9 1/2 H. The only ones they had looked like boots so they offered to order some in a nicer style for me. 3 weeks later they still haven't phoned.

I went back to the original store and was served by a really rude assistant and I asked if they had any 9 1/2 H's. They of course didn't but she suggested my daughter came back at the end of the week.

The following weekend we went to a russel and bromley in yet another neighbouring town we now have start rite 9 1/2 G in a reasonable style. but they did have to give us some insoles.

Daughter was uncharacteristically well behaved. Apart from not wanting the final pair of shoes when in the shop. She wont be parted from them now. At the end of this experience I wanted to shake all the clarkes management over a snake pit. Appropriate childrens shoes should be availiable when we need them and not sell out 3 months before we know that we will. And it would be nice if sizes were standard!

Oh well. Thanks for the offer Gingerbear, but I guess I really ought to take her to make sure the shoe I want does fit (rather than merely being in her size!). Will have to face the long trip. Or get Startrite of course. How do Startrite's version of Doodles compare to Clarks?

Or maybe I'll give up and go to Tescos...
