4x4 style family car

We currently have a 3 door hatchback and I despise it but DP isn't fussed. With 2 kids 3yrs and under it drives me mad (no pun intended).

Dream car would be Range Rover Evoque but at that price we couldn't manage.

Anyone have a nice big car similar to that style (like a Nissan or something) but for a better price (on finance)? If I can show DP that it's not gonna cost a fortune then I think I can get him on board Grin

We can afford a decent amount, just not Range Rover prices.

I'm another Ford Kuga fan. I test drove the CRV and a Hyundai Sportage, but the Kuga was by far the best one to drive. The gear change on the CRV was a bit notchy and the Hyundai was very noisy and sounded like a London taxi.

Kugas are usually 2WD, but as we live on a hill on the edge of the Pennines we needed a car that could drive up that hill in the snow, so we got the 4WD. The Kuga passed that test with flying colours. When this one goes I will replace it with another Kuga.

I quite liked Evoques until I sat in one and realised they are tiny inside. They would be very impractical for a growing family. Qashqais are fine but also a little small on the inside. The new XC90s are amazing but very expensive. XC60s are great too and very roomy inside.

Another vote for crv if you don't need a 7 seater. V practical and massive boot for dogs and prams.

Just a word of (relative) caution about the bigger 4x4s. We have a new Range Rover Sport, which is lovely of course. But I am 5ft5 and lifting DS into his car seat (18 months) can feel very difficult sometimes (he was still in the maxi Cosi baby seat when we test drive so it felt a lot easier but delivery times are such that he has obviously now massively outgrown that).

Also, boot space is good, but not mind blowing.

Evoques are tiny. So scrub that completely! The Nissan X-Trail is nice. Have you considered a Land Rover Discovery second hand?

I have a Mitsubishi ASX and love it! Very comfy, spacious, great visibility...

we are looking to replace our car. We need to get one that can seat 3 growing children into the back.
Have been looking at Ford Kuga, Mazda CX-5 but a little worried about parking these as they look wide even with parking sensors etc etc.

Do you have a great car you love to fit 3 children from 7-13yrs in the back?

We have 3 kids - one adult and 2 in car seats and have a 7-seater BMW X5.

Beautiful inside and out and lots of space.

I'd look at the qashqai (sorry I might have spelt that wrong). Two of my friends have them with their children and think they are great. We had one as a hire car on holiday a few years back and we were really impressed.

have a look at the volvo xc60 some cracking deals on the current models before the new one comes out

I love our Vauxhall mokka

Have a look at www.motormum.com/4x4-7-Seater-Cars.php

We need a 7 seater and DH (and I, to be fair) do not like the typical mpv styles. We also libe out in the sticks and he'll need to go off road in it.

I love the look of the outlander and the pathfinder.
