I had a new cooker delivered on Sunday.
It has a ceramic hob and after cooking on it tonight it seems to be quite marked.

I used a saucepan and a wok. On the plate where the wok was, there is a mark about 50p peice size where it looks like the shine has worn of the hob iykim.

There are also a few much smaller similar marks on the other plate I used.

Is this normal ?? It looks ruined already, and I have been so careful, not sliding pans across or anything.

No, you haven't damaged it (at least it's unlikely)
Cece is right - Hob Brite

We get it from Tesco - small orange bottle.

If you ever get a really difficult burnt patch you should have been given a 'scraping tool' with the hob - like a razor blade with a handle - use carefully (it can scratch) but this will scrape off any difficult residue.

But thats the thing, it doesn't look like it's residue, it looks like it's kind of rubbed off the surface ...tis hard to explain.

I will have a look for the hob brite tommorow, hope they have it in Wilkos.

I get mine from Tesco

Ok thanks, will try that and if it doesn't work I will cry.

If it doesn't work, do you think I can complain as i said I have only used it twice and am sure I didn't do anything wrong.

it will work - may need a bit of elbow grease thhough

I've had ceramic hobs in the past and they do lose their surface shine, Hob Brite is great for removing actual residue but doesn't prevent it looking worn. Would be surprised if that's happened after only 2 days though. But in my experience it's impossible to keep ceramic hobs looking spotless for long.

Thankyou thankyou, I got the hob brite and it looks 1000 times better now. I can still see a slight mark I think, but only because I know where it was iykwim.

Thanks again
