Pram Toddler Seats

Does anybody have any experience of the toddler seats that fit on the hard-bodied carrycot prams? They're always available on ebay in very good condition and I'm wondering if they're a 5 minute wonder with people having problems with them after buying them. I'm interested to know how comfy the toddler really is in the seat and what's the best solution if it rains - a big rain poncho maybe? Any advice greatly received.

I had a pram with a hard seat which fitted on top and I thought it was brilliant - better than side by side (DS1 was 19mths when DS2 arrived.) DS1 loved being high up and able to see me.

On the negative side - the older child can't nod off to sleep so you need to plan accordingly. Mine had a huge raincover which went over param and toddler, but it was awkward so a poncho is prob a better idea.

Also awkward to assemble / dissassemble so not ideal for travelling by car.

Also by the time DS2 was sitting up and looking out he was getting frustrated by the toddler in the way of his view! (about 6 to 9 mths) I got a buggy board at this point.

HTH!

I had an Emmaljunga one- fab fab fab.

I don't drive so fitting in boot wasn't an issue.

What I loved was that I could get on busses easily, the dds and I could face each other, and dd1 wasn't able to poke newborn dd2.

The seat came with a max weight of child, but dd1 was well over that by the time she was walking properly and pram still ok.

Many thanks for both your messages. My DD1 will be 17 months when the next one arrives and I keep chopping and changing my mind about getting a double buggy or using the pram I had for DD1 which I and she absolutely loved. It was the Bebe Confort Loola with the Windoo carrycot on. Very comfy and lovely and would love to make use of again although DD1 was out of the carrycot by 5 months so would ultimately prob have to get a double buggy as I'm wondering if a 22 month old will be able to cope with a buggy board for long periods of time. Depends on the child I guess.

I had one of these for mine, as I had a similar age gap and stopped using the double buggy when dd2 was about 7 months.

seat 2 go was the board i had jelley! It was brilliant - much easier than standing. My DS1 used it from approx 29mths.

DD1 fell asleep on it more than once. I loved it as it meant I could carry on using my pram(if it had had a carry cot I would definitely gone for the seat on top, too)
