Which is the best suncream for a toddler?

I'm about to buy some high factor suncream for my toddler son. I'm tempted to go for a spray-on one, simply because it seems easier to apply. can anyone recommend a good one? thanks.

Water Babies by Coppertone - comes in spray and lotion. Smells nice too.

Asda do a little roll on stick for kids (like foundation) but only SPF 35 but is handy to keep in handbag just in case and ideal to roll down DD's nose.
Pampers also do the sunnies wipes SPF 40 which are fantastic for the face - in Boots
Enjoy the weather

Protection 28 from Ultrasun is great - its waterproof, and you only have to put it on once and it lasts all day. Quite expensive (but perhaps not if you remember you're not reapplying every few hours).

I use the Nivea childrens spray suncream. It's great. Sprays on a bluey green colour and rubs in clear. It's good because you can see where you've been because of the colour. Ds thinks it's great and is always asking for more!!!!

Make sure you get one with a decent shaped bottle. I have one from Tesco and once you have spryaed a bit on and rubbed it in, you can't hold the bottle and spray again because your hands ate too slippy. (Don't know if that makes sense but I hope you KWIM) My sister got one with a trigger spray (like you have on kitchen or bathroom cleaners, or carpet cleaners?) and that's seems to be really good (for spraying anyway - don't know what the sun protection is like - could be useless I guess!)

I second Ultrasun, after hearing all about it on here. Looked quite pricey at first, but you only use a little bit first thing in the morning so not as bad as it sounds. I also use the factor 17 for me, easy peasy, Me, DH and DS get 'greased up' first thing and thats it til tomorrow, brilliant.

PS, it has both UVA and UVB filters in. Unlike another 'once a day' brand.

Soltan range for kids from boots. One of very few (if any others) that has 5 star protection for UVA and UVB. F30, Comes in lotion, spray, coloured (green but then fades)and a version with insect repelant in it. Separate one for babies F50 in small handy tube. Currently on offer buy on get one free, which includes aftersun.

Another vote for Soltan from Boots. I used to use Nivea but discovered its UVA protection was lower than many other brands.

Ultrasun looks really good - thanks for tip. Great that it stays on all day. Is Ultrasun 28, SPF 28? Is this enough for babies?

Last summer I bought l'Oreal Solar Expertise - Factor 60, which is the highest SPF I have ever seen. It's quite pricey (about £12) but Tesco are doing it on buy one get one free at the moment (but of course they only had factor 15 when I went )

You have to be careful if you use extremely high factor suncreams, as they can lull you into spending too much time in the sun. I wouldn't go higher than SPF 40, for this reason.

I read this about sp facors on the cancer research website.

"The reason experts recommend factor 15, is that this represents the best balance between protection and price. You will get over 90 per cent protection from UVB rays with SPF 15. Above SPF 30 you don't get much additional protection from higher factors.

No sunscreen - no matter how high the factor - can offer 100 per cent protection.

factor 15 sunscreen offers about 93% protection
factor 30 sunscreen offers about 96% protection
factor 60 sunscreen offers about 98% protection"
