I currently have 2 pushchairs

  1. a Graco Mirage which i've had for 10mths but the closing mechinisim is starting to stick and it's getting extremely hard to close EVEN with both hands free.
Emily loves this pushchair due to the wide seat and it being really nice to fall asleep in,
i LOVE the HUGE shopping basket & the fact it's confey for Emiyl
HATE the heavyness and bulkiness of it once folded

    2)A Chicco caddy.
I LOVE to easy of the fold u can do it with ur feet! it is also light and compact
HATE the small shopping basket and Emily can't fall to sleep in it

so u can c my problem i can't really use the graco one anyone due to the impossiblity of getting it down and the chicco one though small isn't good for shopping

I'm surprised you've found the Mirage heavy and bulky when folded. My friend has one (has had it since her DD was born, she is now 18 months), and whenever we've gone anaywhere together in the car I've always been impressed with how light it is compared to most ! In fact my friend went for it BECAUSE it is so light for a newborn buggy (she has back and wrist problems).

From a weight p.o.v. it'll be difficult to suggest an alternative to the mirage which still has a generous shopping basket etc. My initial reaction would be a Maclaren Techno XT but the shopping basket is small and nowhere near as easily accessible as the one on the mirage, though it is quite comfy (if expensive!). I had a 2002 but I did find that it was a little narrow in the seat area for my then 18 month old, who is tall for her age. Plus the brakes on the 2002 model were a NIGHTMARE (really difficult to put on with just your feet, fiddly knobs), no idea if this has been rectified on the newest model.

techno xt brakes have been modified now and it's my fav pushchair ever although the shopping basket isn't huge it does have the individual handels so you can at least hang a few things on them.

kiddicare are cheapest

I used a Maclaren Volo and it was great! Big basket and seperate handles, very comfortable to push, very easy to fold and the lightest buggy on the market (at the time 3.6kgs I think).

I have the Maclaren Techno - basket too small. Albert, I didn't think the Volo had a basket? Is this a new model?
