yes they are
an album of photos and a larger print costs about 1k

LIZS · 05/01/2007 13:41

oh yes !

Twinkie1 · 05/01/2007 13:41

We have had photos done 4 times and only spent about 500 each time but for that you don't get much and to be honest the photos that we have in the house of the kids that we have taken when they are not conscious that a photo is being taken are a lot nicer.

JackieNo · 05/01/2007 13:41

Yes - horribly expensive. But lovely.

WigWamBam · 05/01/2007 13:43

Hideously expensive. To give you some idea, we ended up with a frame which is about 18" x 30", it has three images of 4" x 7" and cost us £790.

pandagirl03 · 05/01/2007 13:46

yes they are very expensive dp paid just under 2k for about 2 lots of 9 photos, lovely photos but not worth 2k imho

hotrodwidow · 05/01/2007 13:52

Pinkchampagne · 05/01/2007 13:56

Very very expensive!!!
Lovely pictures, but shockingly priced!
The cheapest wall hanging picture you can buy is around £325!

Pinkchampagne · 05/01/2007 13:57

A collection of 3 small pictures in one long frame will knock you back £800!!!

berrycherry · 05/01/2007 13:59

Just what I need to hear at this time of year! we are just starting a renovation project on our house, so I will expect my dh to be very unimpressed!

The £125 voucher you are given for a picture, basically entitles you to a £75 desk top picture in a very naff black frame. The rest of the money apparantly pays for the session itself!
You go back to view the pictures & see your children on a huge screen. Music is played at the same time.
You feel choked & fall in love with all the pictures. You then have to narrow down your favourites & eventually choose which picture/pictures you want to purchase.
It is very hard to walk away with just the small desk top image, lets put it that way!

ClosetSlob · 05/01/2007 14:22

very expensive but beautiful imvho

ClosetSlob · 05/01/2007 14:24

If I knew how to post a pic I'd post one of mine in member profiles.. anyone prepared to help me?

kittypants · 05/01/2007 14:26

very expensive but worth it and you can pay in monthly installments.

kittypants · 05/01/2007 14:26

ill have a go

kittypants · 05/01/2007 14:28

cant do it either!

madmarchhare · 05/01/2007 14:31

Very expensive for what they are IMO.

We paid 700 for a 2'x 2' with 7 pictures in it.

I do love it but SIL had some done by a bloke down the road from her and paid half as much and got twice as much.

When DS is older I will do my homework first.

princessmel · 05/01/2007 14:37

I had some pictures done by a friend from my nct antenatel group and they are beautiful. Everyone comments on them.
I've got one large of of all 4 of us with some smaller individual ones of the children incorperated in it and a huge one of just their faces/eyes. We got them when dd was quite small.
They are similar in style to Venture but much cheaper. They still cost a lot but not as much as the prices mentioned on this thread.

Lots of my friends have used venture and I think the end results usually look really similar.Very lovely though.

Pinkchampagne · 05/01/2007 15:05

Yes, you can pay the pictures off over 10 months interest free credit.

hotandbothered · 05/01/2007 15:06

I will stay very clear of Venture after our experiences with them and I could never recommend them either.
We went having been told it would be a fun session with lots of toys/music etc. I have to say it was honestly one of the worst experiences of our lives... Excruciatingly embarassing... The photographer was completely in love with himself.
Our dd had never done something like this before and was a bit nervous at first. thank goodness we had taken a ball and some finger puppets with us because there were no toys provided and she would never have come out of her shell if we hadn't had something to jolly her along with. He asked if she was always like this! She was 18months ffs In the end, after the hard sell with slushy music, we didn't want to buy any of the photos! The free one is ok but nothing special.
Pixi photo have been much better IME and obviously far cheaper.

Pinkchampagne · 05/01/2007 15:09

Yes, I must say that I didn't find their customer service very impressive at all, but I guess that varies according to the studio you use & the staff they have.

WigWamBam · 05/01/2007 18:28

We found their customer services to be crap as well - and it doesn't really depend that much on which studio it is, because all of their pictures are sent away to be printed and framed.

Getting the pictures was a nightmare, the first one was damaged, it then came back without its frame, was then sent to the wrong studio, then got lost, and took about five months (instead of 6 weeks) to arrive. We then found the staff less than helpful at chasing up the picture, and they didn't even bother to acknowledge our letter of complaint. The pictures are beautiful, but when you see them without the frame they are printed on really thin, cheap paper.

I wouldn't recommend them at all.

bigknickersbigknockers · 05/01/2007 18:45

Pictures are great but crazy prices, and they only sell them to you framed... I was on a tight budget when I had them done5 years ago so I asked if I could have the prints un framed but they wouldnt do that and when at the viewing I said I was on a budget they said "Oh well we do offer credit"
Lovely photos at daylight robbery prices

misspinkcat · 05/01/2007 18:45

This thread has a baby pasta feeling to it don't you think old timers?

LadyOfThePoinsettias · 05/01/2007 18:47

i believe they are expensive and they like to pressure you to buy loads of them after the shoot. but lovely photos.
