Pram wanted - any recommendations?!

Hi,
Although this will be my 2nd child, my in laws bought a pram for my first that I didn't get on with. Can't remember what make it was but it ended up being dumped (unceremoniously) after 6 months with bits hanging off it. I'm pretty sure it came from the Littlewoods clearance...
Anyway, my requirements for a pram this time are easy to move about (maybe with a height adjustable handle as I'm 5'0!) with a buggy board on the back, some kind of suspension, seat must lie completely flat and convert to a pushchair later on! Ohand most importantly it must be cheap (£150 is the most we can afford!). Have been keeping a look out on eBay but I figured with the January sales now is the time to be looking! When I was pg with ds1 I really liked a cosatto one, does anyone know if they are any good?!
Thanks in advance!

Oh help!!! Just got back from dragging dp and ds round mothercare and the like, and a 'pram showroom' place and we really like the silver cross ones BUT we want a buggy board for ds and the silver cross had square poles and i don't think it would be compatible!! DS will be 3 by the time the new baby arrives so I don't really see the point of going down the double pushchair route as I don't think we will get much use out of it...
Which prams are compatible with buggy boards?!!

I had a Graco pushchair and buggy board but it is worth considering how much use you will get out of one as you constantly kick them when you walk. It is one of those inventions that is brilliant in theory but not in practice imo.

My DD will be 2.9 when this baby arrives and I have bought Graco double buggy for £120 brand new. Will then get a cheaper stroller type pushchair in 12 months time

HTH

Try "litaf seat to go" for a more universal option (I think it fits lots of things)

For prams, try kiddicare.com for discounts

Good luck!

or the emmaljunga prams on ebay sometimes have toddler seats on them. not sure if you could fit a 3 yo on one though.

id definately recommend an emmaljunga.ive got the crossway and its fab.i got mine off ebay, brand new from a shop that was closing down.i have had trouble getting the accessories for it though,it came with a black raincover thing, but you need a proper plastic one,and i cant get a footmuff for love nor money!my cousin went to a shop in hull and theres a 4 month wait for accessories.

were looking for a 3 wheeler at the mo to take on a walking holiday (the emmajunga is abit to big to fit in our car,so you need to bear in mind how much froom you have in your car!!)

Thanks WCL, wasn't aware the buggy boards were that awkward, might have to rethink that as I'm so short (or grow some go-go-gadget arms!). Flossie, looked at the litaf, does it have the same problem? Also, do either of them fold up out of the way when not in use or did i dream that part?!
Will have a look at emaaljunga one on ebay. Is it a 2 in 1 or a pram?
I'm still thinking about the silver cross linear as it's the only oneI've seen in real life and there's a few second hand ones on ebay, does anyone have any experience of them? Thanks

i had a cosatto with my ds and dd, when dd was born i bought a 3in1 Cosatto and attached a kiddi board on to the back of it, try and get a pram where the rear axle is away from the brake so you can attach a kiddi board, these are so much easier to fit than a buggy board

Kidstrak · 08/01/2007 11:21

have a look at seller online4babyltd on ebay who have a good range of affordable pushchairs

blueamema · 08/01/2007 12:44

kiddicare are best for offers/cost. They have a wide range, its easy use and you can also compare different types.

redclover79 · 08/01/2007 13:01

Just back from looking at emmaljunga, definitely going to look into those! Not sure that the toddler seat will be ok for my ds though, he's 15kg already... Will be doing a bit more research methinks!
Have looked at kiddicare website blueamema but I think I'm also going to put a wanted ad on here as money's a bit tight and I've been breaking out in cold sweats at the thought of spending £200+!!

Don't get one, I have an Emmaljunga mondial duo, the most popular one to get. They are terrible, to look at you would think what a lovely sturdy wonderfully designed pram, and your are right, the reaserch they have done has made the pram very comfortable for a child and with common sence things to it such as a large basket and can be rear ward facing ie facing parent, but and there is a big but, they weight a ton, I am not just talking a little heaviy, I mean stupid heavy and with that in mind I had a 10 year old traditional silver cross with carry cot and seat, the Emmaljunga was four times heavier, the only reason I bought it was because I loved my silver cross but the seat is to short for the baby to sleep with out being scrunched up and the Emmaljunga has a longer seat unit and now Emmaljunga have re made the toddler seats to go on the top so I have a new one of those.

A warning to, if you are pregnant do not lift this pram into the car, it is so heavy you could hurt yourself, so would mean you would need to buy a second pram to use during a second pregnancy, I have an Urbon Detour and a Mclaren XT.

Truthfully my pram is georgious to look at, not a mark on it, a cocoon, a toddler seat, carry cot, main pram seat, but I can not use it as it has also damaged my wrists and arms with the weight as you need to press down constantly on the bar when you are shopping just to get round one store, I have had to see a doctor as my arms hurt so much now, this pram damaged my arms.
