Oil filled radiators?

Do you have one? Are they effective? What make do you have?

We have one, we find it reasonably effective. Less drying than one of those little electric fan heaters, and I'm pretty sure it's more effective.

Ours is whatever brand they stock at Argos. It's a "fancy" one with a water reservoir on it, so the air doesn't dry out too much, which I think is worth it.

I bought a couple for an office I used to work in; it was in a rented warehouse space and was freezing

much better than a fan heater, more efficient too. (though more expensive) But some of the staff complained that it didn't 'blast' out heat as soon as you turned it on

however I ignored them since it was one of them that blew up the former fan heater by throwing a cup of coffee over it

it's a better solution I think if you're looking to leave it on for long periods than a fan heater

We've got a DeLonghi one which we use sometimes when it is very cold in one particular room. It is good to heat the room - not noisy like a fan heater - and the extra bonus is that it has an in-built timer so you can set it to come on in the morning before you get up....

we used one in our hall for years (finally got underfloor heating installed a couple of weeks ago!) and found it very effective. We've got a 5 bed house and used the oil-filled radiator to heat most of it just by leaving it in the (open) hall on full and the bedroom doors upstairs open.

we have this ridiculous situation where dh and I are sleeping in the spare room because our bedroom is too cold

must sort it out

oil fired radiator it is then and how I would love to splash out on a king size electric blanket [dream emoticon]

Ah, yes, ours is DeLongi, too.

Personally, I like my bedroom cold, we have no radiators in any bedrooms that anyone sleeps in regularly. There are spare bedrooms with radiators, just because we couldn't be bothered getting them removed.

We only bought one for DS1's room, and we don't seem to use it any more. His bedroom is a loft room, unheated (although well insulated) and often below 10C in the winter.

Still, he refuses to wear a pyjama top, and just has a regular duvet, don't think it's very thick at all. Go figure.
