Beware the Prima Pappa highchair - it has hidden dangers!

I have used my Mamas and Pappa's, Prima Pappa highchair for the past four years with no problems. I think (thought) it was wonderful and always recommended it to others. However .... yesterday I trapped my hand in the side mechanism, goodness knows how, and I swear if dh hadn't been there I would have got dd (age 4) to dial 999! The skin between my thumb and forefinger on my right hand was trapped and I couldn't use my left hand to free it. I'm a bit of a wimp anyway but the pain and the panic made me nearly faint. By the time dh got my hand out I had nearly collapsed! dd and ds were crying because I was crying! It's funny now but at the time it was so hideous. I've fainted a couple of times before and I got that blacking out, cold sweat, sick feeling, had to be helped to the sink to put it under the tap, then helped to the chair. About 20 mins later I felt OK but then couldn't stop blubbing because I kept thinking what if he hadn't been there?! Can you imagine the firemen coming in to save me from my killer highchair, or the ambulance men? The whole street would have been on the pavement wondering what was going on!!
Anyway, the skin wasn't broken and there's just a faint mark now, nothing to show for all the drama. Needless to say, I have left it up ever since and not collapsed the bleeping thing. BEWARE!!

Was it at the back bit (the side parts that slide down) where you pull the bar down by the handle at the back to then click into place..???

If so I trapped dd's hand there she's only 19 months and I agree it is dangerous. I felt so sorry for dd as she wanted to help and I didn't realise her hand was there or even the fact that the chair was capable of trapping her little hand . Many tears were cried by both of us. Hope your fingers etc are better. xx

It was at the side, if both sides are like triangles it was at the top of the triangle where the legs slide if you see what I mean. Lethal!

That's awful sounds like you had a lucky escape. Don't often collapse mine but will take heed.

Another warning - the cover on mine is slightly ripped and needs replacing and they quoted forty-odd quid to send ne a new one. Daylight robbery!
