Leather sofa - best choice for bad back sufferer??

Didn't know whether to put this in Health, but our sofa and chair are 13 years old and have had their day. DH has back problems and can no longer sit in the sofa or chair, his only comfortable position is to lie down.

Thought about going for leather, but was looking for recommendations for sofas with good back support that would last more than a couple of years.

Also, not seen many good reviews on here for DFS, what about SCS/land of Leather etc???

We gotr an extremely high backed sofa ( set of two) in the land of Leather sale a few years ago, fabulous, we love them. And now you mention it I have had zilch problems with my back since, and at one point I ws unable to work for three months it was so bad

never occurred to me there might be a link!!

check out backinaction.com (or .co.uk cant remmeber which) they undoubtedly have expert advice for you.

fwiw - i havnt studied their entire range seasonally, but as far as i can tell scs is full of the most awful looking sofas in the universe. i have, however, been tempted by a couple at dfs recently...

NG, thanks for the website (it was a .co.uk one), sofas look good, shame there's not a store near me but I will ask DH to look at the site and see if he thinks its worth a trip ( at the prices tho!)

Peachy, has the LoL sofa stood up well to wear and tear? Good news that your back problems have gone!

for comfy, supportive seating the back needs to be atleast up to shoulders and, when your feet are on the floor you need to have you hips at right angle tio your body ie hips level or higher than your knees.
hth.
