I am thinking of getting one for my BIL. Has anyone any experience of good or bad ones?

We have played about 4 so far, each one being different, but really good fun. We made an evening out of them with a meal etc, but the first time I was cooking and spent most of the time back and fore to the kitchen and lost the plot. So next time we arranged for a takeaway to be delivered after round one.

Ah so the food is annoying?
Can you tell me what ones you did?

We used to do them regularly, but it was years ago and I can't remember any names. They were all from the one manufacturer, and there were versions for 6,8,10 and 12 people. They were about £20, I think. Have you one in mind? They're good fun, if you all get into it and dress up and do the accents etc. Do you have a TK Max near you? I noticed some in there today. I'll have a google and see if I can find the ones I used to use.

We played it one New Year's Eve. About four couples. We dressed up and had such a laugh. There was an Italian mama (me), a footballer, a villain, a hooker, a gangster and some others I can't remember. Lots of wine, lots of strange accents. Laughed alot.

I think you need to do this with really good mates, ie no one too shy or embarrassed at making an arse of themselves!

The one we did was called Murder in the Orient, which was for 6 people. The characters were Lotus Blossom (Thai dancer), Major Blunder (British Diplomat), Kama Sutra (Massage Parlour Owner), Chip Board (owner of Thailands largest timber exporters), Poppy Fields (florist), Rick Shaw (taxi driver). We can to discover the murderer of Renata Scoop (English Journalist).

It was really funny, you are set the scene. During each round each person has to reveal something to the group, and has to ask a question of one of the others. This is how the evidence is revealed. I think there were about 5 rounds, then at the end we all had to guess who we thought the murderer was.

We used to do them most New Years Eve and like another poster I can't remember any of the names. Loved doing them. Especially if you have guests who really go for it & ham the whole thing up. A couple of time I hadn't made all the guests before so only knew them 'in character'. It wasn't til a hung over breakfast the following morning that we'd actually find out who we really all were. Great fun!

I saw they have some for teenagers too - it would be a good party for like a 14 year old I think.

OK, I've had a look, and I think the ones we did were Murder A La Carte. You can get them on Amazon. They're really good at leading eveyone through, because as people get drunker and drunker, it's easy to deviate and get lost. The Murder a la Carte ones have a tape and a script, and they tell everyone what to reveal about themselves, and what not to reveal unless they're specifically asked. They also include invitations which tell people what to wear. This thread has put me in the mood to have one again. If you have one, be sure and let us know how you get on. (I remember being a flamenco dancer at one, and trawling round the charity shops looking for something suitable to wear!)
