pushchair broke after 2 months!

Ive got a mamas and papas ozon sportivo with a mypod. 8 weeks of light use and its broken!. The mechanism for adjusting the seat has snapped for no good reason. Also apparently the hood is only splash proof, it gets very damp in the rain. Ive had to shall out for a eaincover which covers the whole hood, as its own cover zips onto the non-waterproof hood. Mamas and papas think a non waterproof hood and zip on rain shield is ok...I dont want ds getting pnemonia!
The seat is not stable now, and basically the whole lot has to go in the bin, as i was refused a refund, and they said i had to post it to them for a repair. Ive relocated abroad, so that isnt possible, and dont want a nwew product repaired anyway!

Im livid!

So....any ideas on what is a good pushchair to buy? Is the stokke or bugaboo worth it? I need a buggyboard to fot on it really, and suitable for a 2 month old baby. In the meantime im stuck with my baby bjorn carrier...

Hi, I personally think that you can't go wrong with a maclaren buggy. I have had three, one for each of my dc's and they have never let me down (unless you count the middle one which died after being in the boot during a 70 mph car collision, but even then it was still useable). Mountain buggy get a good write up and can fit a board, there are lots of threads if you search. If you go to Cheeky Rascals website (stockists of lascal boards) you will be able to find out which buggys fit a board and perhaps narrow your search a little as there is a comprehesive list there with pictures. mamas and papas dont have a great reputation for when things go wrong ,at the end of the day you have consumer rights and it sounds as though these are being ignored ,you bought a piece of equipment and it now doesnt work ,therefore i would of thought you are entitled to a refund . Dont take no for an answer ,email citizens advice and trading standards and make sure the store you bought it from knows you are doing this .Good luck and hope you find a replacement soon

they are wrong... you are entitled to a refund....

(or they could argue a repair at their expense)

trading standards / Citizens advice will tell you that

i had a similar prob with a 15month old maclaren.... mothercare were most unhelpful.... but in the end i received wa full refund for the orginial purchase preice (despite no reciept and price now reduced_

they are wrong you are legally entitled to a refund... tell them to repair it or money back... or take them to small claims.... where you WILL WIN

Good luck!

quote sale of goods act 1979.... goods have to be as described and of reasonable quialty.... where reasonable quiality is reasonable durable... given reasonable use! at the time trading standarsds agreeed with me that you could exepct a cheep £20 buggy to last 6 months and a £1-00 maclaren to last more than 15 months... threefor we were right... and eventually did get a full refund.... hope this post helps!

Thank you. I have written to them, with the support of tradng standards. Hopefully i will get my refund now!

Its awful what traders try and get away with knowing mums are too busy as stressed to put up much of a fight...

I think ill get a bugaboo...if i can persuade dh its not too dear...
