that the shops are full of v lightweight thin cotton clothes for little girl babies (like v v thin dresses etc) but boys get combat trousers and t shirts...???? same with hats: girls hats wide brimmed really good for shade, boys hats really narrow brimmed and f*ck all use just trendy looking...i'm starting to get pissed off with this (esp baby gap)...am i looking in the wrong places?

thanks soupy - pumpkin patch are in Australia aren't they? We are going next month, so might be able to get one then. Saying that, there will probably be quite a range of hats in Australia.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2004 19:59

Goodness no! They're in Croydon too!!

SoupDragon · 21/05/2004 20:00

Noooo Coddy! My fave tops for Attilla have "here comes trouble" and "100% mischief" on them. If you'd met him, you'd know why

SoupDragon · 21/05/2004 20:00

(meant PPatch are in Croydon BTW. They're in
other UK places too.)

BadHair · 23/05/2004 00:37

There's a Pumpkin Patch in Uxbridge too, or at least there was, and I think there's one in the Trafford Centre if that's any nearer to you.
Totally agree about the drossy colours of boys' clothes - it really makes me mad. Let's start an e-petition and send it to the high street big boys.

gingerbear · 23/05/2004 06:52

Pumpkin Patch in Sheffield Meadowhall and Derby(?)

Should be a list on their website.

Ohhh, this is one thing that drives mad me mad.

Went shopping yesterday (as some of you may know from my ranting) and was looking for some stuff for DS3. EVERY shop had at least twice the amount of girls clothes. The 'George' shop in Croydon being the worst I have ever seen for baby boys.

They had one chest height display thingy, with one side being all tigger/piglet/pooh stuff which I loathe. Yet for baby girls they had the whole wall with the top line of clothes being way above my head and at least 1 possible 2 display thingy which were just as high. I'd say there was at least 4 times the amount for baby girls.
I very nearly asked why they did this when I bought 2 t-shirts for DS1+2 but as all the tills were operated by 16/17 year old I didn't think I'd get much of an answer.
Poor little DS3 will have remain in hand-me-downs, even if it means wear winter stuff in July and shorts in December.

???mad me mad????

Lovely, slightly retro things at Aztecstore.com - I also really like Tati - www.tati.co.uk and also French babyclothes. I don't like to dress my son in very butch clothes, esp military stuff. He's only a baby! At a year he was in little romper suits and stuff made of thin cotton. And looked very cute too IMO!
BTW did you see my recommendation for a life coach on that thread?

aloha · 23/05/2004 08:50

Tati has very sweet, wide brimmed hats that tie under the chin.

aloha · 23/05/2004 08:51

And I bought ds some linen shorts from Hennes that are lovely.

acnebride · 23/05/2004 09:22

Totally agree eefs, was sick of blue before ds was even born. Saw a friend's baby girl this week in a beautiful very light linen babygro/suit thing which she said was in fact from Mothercare World boys' range - it was white with two shades of blue stripes.
Specialist children's shops a bit better but so expensive i just want to cry - from 2foot nothing in Oxford bought my ds a 'flaphappy' hat which is a californian make i think, with peak, ties and legion flap, but of course it was a) dark blue and b) 13 pounds. 13 POUNDS. I must be mad.
