Gameboy Advance or Nintendo DS?

OK, I realise that Nintendo DS Lite is the object of desire, and that Gameboy Advance is getting old and clunky, but I have two of the feckin things to buy, so I'm tempted to go for the GBA, in spite of its great age, cause it's cheaper.

Should I go for DS inspite of greater cost, to avail of longer product life?

Do any of you have one of these, and what would you recommend?

What ages are they for? My ds1 has had a GBA for about 3 years and its very hard wearing, he's getting a DS Lite for Xmas and is passing the GBA down to his little brother.
The good thing is you can play Gameboy games on the DS and you can get cheap games for it now.

It's for a 14yo boy and his 9yo sister. So different games, obviously!

ds (8) is still happy with his GBA after 2 years. What they don't know they don't miss but his cousin is upgrading after a year ! The ds' are bound to come down in price. Argos have micro GB ones for £40 but not sure what they are like compared to the others.

Ds has a Nintendo DS after 3 years or so with his Gameboy. He was reluctant to change at first but was getting more and more frustrated when he was choosing games, as so many are now only DS compatible. It is loads better to be honest, too.

Thanks everyone. As things turned out, there was hardly any choice in the shops here in Ireland, or at least in my particular backwater! I ended up getting a pair of those micro gameboys, cause they were available, and cause they were cheap enough, just over fifty euro.

And one is pink, which should please the little diva, and stop the 14yo coming remotely near it.

Following the thread below about nintendos, I checked and found out that both of them need full charging before first use, so thanks for the warning on that, and for all the tips

Oh glad I read that I will get DD's DS out to charge it before Christmas day, never even thought about it and of course she will want to use it straight away.
