Can anyone tell me when I can stop using the special baby washing powder and wash ds's clothes in with the rest of the washing? And whats the difference between biological and nonbio? What do you all use?

Thanks in advance.

Art - it depends on your ds's skin. My boys both have fairly sensitive skin. Last time I ran out (Persil Non-Bio), and bought a small box (of a substitute) in the local shop, both of them had eczema flare-ups, which took a couple of weeks to get back under control. But we use the same washing powder for all the family - it gets stuff clean. I don't know about the "baby" stuff - I haven't heard of that. Don't think it was around when my first was born (4.5 yrs ago). Sounds more like marketing myself.

I would suggest if you're still using baby bubble bath, then probably best to continue using non-bio washing powder.

Art I gave up using nonbio when DS was about a year old, I just watched his skin to see if he had any reaction and fortunately he didn't. I certainly found that the biological stuff works better, the stains come out easier. A friend who has recently had her second baby gave up using the nonbio when her DD was 6 months (nonbio wasn't getting the stains out of her toddler's clothes) and she hasn't found that her DD's skin has been affected.

Shock - I've never thought to do anything but shove everything in together from day one!

I always use fairy non bio for everyone, baby included. For really horrid stains, soak in nappisan first. It's fantastic, really cheap, and they sell it in sainsburys.

I always use Fairy of Persil Non-bio on all my washes as I've got sensitive skin. I don't use conditioner either as DD reacted to it on the first try when she was 18 months.

Er, what special baby washing powder? I have always put all ours in together but I have always been prone to ezcema so use non-bio. I must admit I will try the napisan manna mentioned as tomatoes on white never seem to come out, how long do I have to soak and can I do the same with colours too?

I have sensitive skin (and a sensitive nose) and have found that Ariel Color seem to leave the least perfumey smell on the clothes and doesn't seem to bother my skin. I have always assumed that what works for me will work for my son.

I use Fairy for the whole family including the very sensitive 14 month old I have, with no problems, but Filetti is also good.It is sold in Sainsburys I believe.

I like Ariel bio or non-bio, depending on what they have in bulk at our local farm shop! It doesnt seem to make any difference to our skin. I bought a box of filetti when dd was tiny but never bothered to buy it again. I do always try and keep some bio on hand in case of stains!! although nothing worked on the chocolate mini-milk stains on lovely new t-shirt at the weekend

If you do have sensitive skin, I would recommend using a liquid rather than a powder, and don't use the 'quick wash' cycle as it rinses less than the normal one.

Art, I have 2 kids with sensitive skin and for years I used Boots (blue bottle) or Surcare.
I have recently started using Ariel, non-bio and bio, and Bold, and in an earlier discussion on a similar thread, one of the regular posters here told me that someone she knew in detergent marketing had told her that the only difference between bio, non-bio and sensitive skin products was the perfume...
Certainly I have found that my "sensitive" ones have not been affected by Ariel bio! And it certainly gets things cleaner.

I have always used non-bio and will continue to do so.

As for the separating adult and baby clothes - this is only the second time i have ever heard this referred to! Ours get separated into dark and white (whites and nappies go in together...) and thats about it!
