Anybody have one of these storage thingies from Ikea?

Here And are they any good? Is it a good size for toys? Want to get playroom sorted before christmas influx, but trying to convince DH this is worthwhile(will get 2) is proving difficult. He is anti-Ikea, so doesn't help, but would be helpful if someone else is happy with theirs!

haven't got that one but have seen it and yes I'd have it but my dh made me improvise with an old bookcase and the boxes! and it does keep the toys tidy and if each box stores a specific group of toys then it's only that box that comes out, gets tidied away and no pieces lost!

My mum recently bought one of these for DCs toys at her house and really likes it. You can mix the sizes of the containers and the smaller ones are perfect for puzzles/paper etc. Unit also comes in white (slightly smaller and about £10 cheaper) and the containers also come in bright colours.

Oh they're fabulous. I'm planning on getting another for the playroom, a low one (DS1 has the one you linked to in his bedroom) and a tall thin on for the utility room

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 09/12/2006 16:02

yes, they are good (but have a look in argos for something similar, might be cheaper )

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 09/12/2006 16:08

The Ikea ones are very sturdy though.

lunavix · 09/12/2006 16:09

We have them they are fab. 2 of those ones, two tall ones and a stumpy one too.

We need to sell one though as wont fit in new house.

Whizzz · 09/12/2006 16:20

Oooh, yay, all positive. Thanks all. Am in Australia, so Ikea is only real option (linked UK site, so to make sure you had same thing!) Dh is soo anti-Ikea but he can't get away from the fact that it is cheap and it works! Ds2 is so close to crawling, so want to put ds1's toys out of his reach to avoid disaster. Horray, looking forward to more shopping this week! Though Ikea 2 weeks before christmas?

If it's the same as the UK, get there for 9:30am, drink free coffee and have a cheap cooked breakfast for 30 minutes and be out of there by 10:30.

That is exactly what I need for under my stairs, looks great for shoes and other stuff that ends up in a pile on the hall floor.

lunavix · 12/12/2006 14:37

nutcracker - yes we have one under stairs and the other 3 in playroom. DOn't have an under stairs in new house though

LIZS · 12/12/2006 14:39

dsh has that one and a tall upright one in his room . They holds loads of stuff, either in the various sized trays/drawers or shelves.

JonesTheSteam · 12/12/2006 14:41

DS has one of those in his room - it's really good.

Bagpuss30 · 12/12/2006 14:42

We have two, a short one and a tall one which we originally bought for an office and which both now reside in ds2's nursery. Would be perfect for a playroom as they are really sturdy.

brimfull · 12/12/2006 14:45

we ahve one of these with baskets on the bottom
