eBay feedback - hpw honest would you be?

I bought a Monsoon dress for dd1 last week off eBay. It was described as gorgeous, very good condition etc and it was very cute but it's made with a fleecey fabric which is really bobbly, as it's obviously been washed a lot. The photo didn't show up any bobbling, neither was it mentioned.

It's a nice dress and dd1 will still wear it but it'll only be for everyday use really as it looks a bit old. The seller's really keen for me to give my feedback and she's got 99.6% positive so far. I know how important feedback is for sellers so I really need to be careful - shall i email her first and see what she says? or just post neutral feedback? the rest of her service was great.

i would contact her and see if maybe she will give you a partial refund or soemthing first?

I would always email any issues before posting feedback.

Not sure what she can do though?

Nemoinapeartree · 03/12/2006 22:05

I would email her first and mention being slightly disappointed at condition of dress etc and see what happens.

I think if you have got a significant issue I'd contact the seller as it sounds like she'd contact her if you gave negative feedback. It does sounds as if she's been misleading with her descriptions and she should be made aware of that. If you're not comfortable with that then do the negative.

On the flip side, if you razor the fleece, you should be able to get rid of a lot of the bobbling.

Meant to say neutral not negative!!

If I were to razor all the bobbles off only the hood would be left! It looks like it was fluffy fleecy fabric to begin with and now it's gone like polar/sweatshirt fleece goes when it's old and washed a zillion times. The actual fabric has changed, iyswim. Think I will email her.

If I paid a lot for it, I would email her with my concerns.
If it was not a lot of money, I would leave a positive, perhaps mentioning that it wasn't quite as high quality as I was expecting, and put it down to experience.
I would weigh up the hassle of complaining with how much I felt that I had been mis-sold or 'ripped off'.
If one of my buyers came to me with such a complaint, and I felt it was justified, I would offer a partial refund.

The trouble with sorting things out via Email is that the seller will get another positive and maybe sell more items in not so good condition. Buyers are not warned about possible problems.
To me the feedback is not a perfect way to judge a seller! I had a disappointed buyer and she informed me by email that she would leave neutral and asked if i was OK with that.It doesn't affect feedback score but warns others.(It was a minor fault in description on my part!)
