Suggestions please - nappies which last the night?

Dd is 16 weeks old and sleeps up to 9 hours a night . Unfortunately, her nappies don't stay the course and leak - the leak problem has started since she moved up to size 3 disposables. I'm getting fed up with changing her bedding every morning, so can anyone suggest a nappy, disposable or reusable, that will fit a long slim 13.5lb baby who hates anything massively bulky round her bottom, and keep everything dry til morning? At the moment we're using disposables at night and bambino mio reusables during the day.

a bumble with a motherease airflow or wool wrap is the only thing that survives the night with ds.

Huggies Supreme - the orange ones, but not Huggies active.
Boots are OK, but a bit soggy and leaky at times.

laneydaye · 03/12/2006 19:31

Ds had huggies he would be soaked in any other
dd huggies or pampers seem to do the trick, i wouldnt buy cheap nappies as they are rubbish! and you end up buying more anyway..

I bought Moltex biodegradeble nappies for night time use(use a nappy service during the day). They have worked well with DS - he was leaking with huggies at night - because he is a tall, big 22 mth boy and the huggies were too narrow on his bum, Moltex are a bit wider fitting. Also, Moltex dont have some of the chemicals the other brands have, so feel better about using them even though theyre disposable. Still need to change him the minute he wakes though. I am trying to cut back on liquid right before bedtime, too.

Can buy Moltex online at a few different stores. I bought them on

www.spiritofnature.co.uk

if you buy in bulk theyre cheaper, but theyll send you a free trial nappy before you make a big spend.

I second the Bumble and Motherease Airflow wrap. We use a Bumble with 2 bumble boosters for our 8mth ds. It can survive the 7pm feed, 2 night feeds, a morning feed and is changed after breakfast each day. Just managed to cut out the night feeds but still use 2 boosters to be on the safe side

We only started using cloth at night last month - I was too scared to use it before because I thought it would leak. Never had a leak and wish I had done it ages ago - no nasty smelling nappy in the morning anymore...

TheChristmasArmadillo · 03/12/2006 20:59

I found pampers active fit were the best for ds (who soaked through any other kind, disposable or not).

Not bulky either.

Thanks for all your suggestions - we will be trying things out, because we had another soaked, smelly babygrow and sleeping bag this morning.

tesco own brand work for us! the ones in the purple pack.

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 04/12/2006 12:22

we use Nature boy and girl or nature babycare i think theyve changed name to.. only at nighttime as seem to be only thing to stem the tide during the night with ours...

for a long tiome, we did nature nappies, held on by a papmers pull up too but we've lowered the nightime liquid intake a bit now and not needing to do that anymore...

hth

alibobble · 04/12/2006 13:32

I second tesco own but also Lidl nappies are great. they are good fit round the leg. Pampers are rubbish for dd and they are the only ones to have leaked on her. Caterpillar sides my eye!

RoskvaTheRedNosedReindeer · 04/12/2006 13:44

It's tesco ones which are leaking. The smaller size were fantastic, but dd's too big for them now, but with the bigger size, which she is supposedly slap in the middle of the weight range for, I can't seem to do them up tight enough to stop liquid seeping past the back of the waistband - the straps already meet in the middle!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 05/12/2006 15:14

Pampers active fit are the best imo and ime. Used "cheaper" and other brands but they never seemed to keep her dry. She goes into one after a bath at around 5/6pm and doesn't get changed until around 7/8am the next morning.

Also use them during the day and find them brill.
