I've bought stuff online like that but I always research it in a shop first and then get online discounts.

Once you have a model number run it through Kelkoo and it will tell you the best place to buy from. If you pay on your credit card you are then covered for any misuse or goods not turning up.

I recently bought a rangemaster cooker on-line from www.jonesdirect.co.uk. They were cheaper than anyone else - by over £300 - and they arranged the delivery direct from manufacturer, so can deliver anywhere in UK (they also sell loads of other products/brans) If you prefer to use a bigger company, comet are pretty good on price and nearly matched my quote, although they charged more for delivery www.comet.co.uk HTH

comet have an excellent website and good delivery service - IME, I must add, I know everybody isn't happy with them. They do free delivery on some models. Comet laundry & dishwashers

noddy I have just today ordered a range cooker and hood thingy online from this place which was way cheaper than anything pricerunner could come up with

It's here (that's the one I'm buying but they have loads and loads

CountessDracula · 12/05/2004 15:39

(btw I had a range cooker thread recently and apparantly CDA are v good if little known make and much cheaper than smeg etc. Seem to remember that Baumatic are not v good)

We put in a new kitchen recently and I found appliancy-city.com fantastic.

Pirces were good and service was great. Ordered on the Tuesday, was told it would be delivered Monday/Tuesday the following week when they "did" Scotland, but that we would be rung on Friday to confirm when the delivery would be. They rang and confirmed when promised and rang again on the Monday when they were on their way. The driver even helped carry the American style fridge freezer upstairs, even though they say that they will only deliver to ground floor/garages.

I might have saved £50 (out of a total of £3,000) by picking and choosing different suppliers for different supliers- but it was worth it for the service - and the prices were still very good.

I bought an LG Amercian fridge-freezer, a Neff oven, a Neff combi microwave, a Neff hood and a CDA gas range.

We did a comlpete kitche refit and I used online for pricing and then went to a "shop" to price match or better it. I used ukappliances.co.uk and went to "buyers and sellers" in London. One thing to compare between the online and shops is the warranty. I know that John Lewis give a two year warranty automatically, whereas online you get one years manufacturers warranty only.

We spent £4500 in total but saved about £1500 with a little bit of bartering!!

Twinkie · 13/05/2004 10:03

Do they take away the old stuff and fit cookers and stuff - thats what I am worried about when buying on line!!

pollingfold · 13/05/2004 10:11

You'll have to phone and ask, and maybe pay extra. If it is a gas appliance of any sort - they will need to be corgi registered - I have yet to meet a delivery man who was! But you should ask

Crunchie · 13/05/2004 10:37

CD you listened to my advice

JanZ · 13/05/2004 10:44

Crunchie - have to say I'm very pleased with my CDA gas range. But I have to admit, I've not used the oven yet (using my builtiin ones instead) - I'll need to invite a big crowd of friends over to have an excuse to use the big oven!

Anyone know where I can get hold of a big crowd of friends?

wobblyknicks · 13/05/2004 10:45

janz - ask sainsburys, they always have them on standby for jamie oliver adverts

CountessDracula · 13/05/2004 10:48

I did crunchie! Thanks - they seem like really good products and £750 for a nice cooker like that is a bargain.

JanZ · 13/05/2004 11:27

I hadn't thought of that Wobblynicks

daisy1999 · 13/05/2004 16:53

I ordered from Currys on line but I would not recommend them as they are almost impossible to contact by telephone if there is a problem and it took them 3 weeks to arrange fitting after delivery.

sponge · 13/05/2004 17:08

I bought a whole load of apliances last year. Researched in the shops, searched for best prices online and then, like pollingfold bought from Buyers and Sellers. They had or could very quickly get everything I wanted, they matched or beat the best prices I had found online for every appliance, they delivered to our flat (all online suppliers would only deliver to the door and we live upstairs) everything at once and on time, they matched store guarantees and they took away a couple of old appliances (I negotiated this at time of order). I can't recommend them highly enough.
Look at this
If they don't have what you want on the site don't worry. Ring them and they'll get it for you.

Min · 13/05/2004 21:53

Another vote for Buyers & Sellers who we used last year for several kitchen appliances. They were very efficient and also able to discuss merits of one product versus another. We also got good guarantees.

SofiaAmes · 13/05/2004 22:54

twinkie, sell the old stuff on loot. You can advertise for free online. I've sold loads of old stuff that way. Or you can sell things through www.thegumtree.com if you are in london.
