DO BABY GIRLS HAVE TO WEAR PINK??????

frenziednester · 29/11/2006 22:04

I have been trying to find other colours for baby girls and so far the usual suspects (mothercare, next etc) are limited in anything other than the dreaded "p". Does anyone have any recommendations for companies that have a broader range (preferably ones which do mail order)?

Not mail order but H & M do some unusual prints etc for kids.
Also Vertbaudet and La Redoute can have different stuff .

I got loads of white/yellow/green stuff from Blooming Marvellous/Jo Jo Mamam Bebe when expecting ds. Probably irrelevant as he's three now, you'll probably go and look and find it's all blue and pink.

jingleboobs · 29/11/2006 22:19

Gingerbear · 29/11/2006 22:19

/link{http://purple-heart.com/acatalog/purple_heart_com_new_baby_gift_packs_57.html\Purple-Heart} fantastic tie-dye and block colour babystuff.
DD was in deep purple tie-dye and bright green.

Gingerbear · 29/11/2006 22:20

doesnt work when there is underlining in the address

TeeCee · 29/11/2006 22:21

No No No.
But everyone thinks my DD is a boy, but stuff em, I don't do girlie pink.

I like reds & browns, lime greens & purples.

I do do some pinks, hot pink and purple is nice.
pale pink and brown.

JARM · 29/11/2006 22:30

i dont like pink on my dd2 - she has red/auburn hair and just doesnt suit it, but i am finding most places now doing greens/blues for girls.

i was desperate for a pair of dungarees for her and was SO close to going for the "boys" brown cord ones, but stopped myself.

franca70 · 29/11/2006 22:42

dd is 2 and a half and I don't really like the pink/lilac supremacy in the shops.
h&m is good.
zara
du pareil au meme (www.dpam.com)
I recently discovered www.nordickids.co.uk I loved it, problem was it was quite expensive...
sorry, can't do links!

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 29/11/2006 23:05

i really like la redoute, some of their ranges are very girly and decidedly NOT pink! i also think that H&M and Primark can come up with a few nice things - i am a big fan of brown cord and teal on my dd

MrsJohnCusack · 29/11/2006 23:27

yes
it's the law

but actually, I have just been through my little baby clothes from DD to see what is suitable for this coming baby (who is a boy) and nearly everything was. And I only really shopped at mothercare, gap, supermarkets, and a few nifty gifty shops for silly vests and things.
pumpkin patch also good, and green baby. And look at the boys stuff too, often it seems that red, brown, purple, green etc. are deemed to be boy's colours whereas of couse they'll be fine for both sexes.

katelyle · 30/11/2006 00:22

Gap usually has lots of non pink stuff. I remember that when my dd - now 10 - was born they had some FAB black velour babygros. Apart from making her look absolutely wonderful - she is a very pale redhead - it wound my MIL up something shocking. Always worth doing!

LoucheWoman · 30/11/2006 00:29

zara for children have loads of funky stuff for girls ( i am a bit of a pink sceptic too) i noticed the other day. made me wish i had a girl! (got 3 boys)

frenziednester · 30/11/2006 08:13

Thanks for the tips - sadly I am in Germany so can't get to tescos etc, which is why I am reliant on Mail Order (I just don't go there with German baby clothes). I have never heard of Pumpkin Patch - is it mail order?

Pumpkin Patch is an NZ brand but it's also available in the UK. have just looked on their website and I don't think they'll ship to Germany though, although you could ask them.

divamummy · 03/12/2006 19:06

wow, i thought german clothes were lovely. i like pampolina, toff togs, and etc..
buy from gymboree.com and gap they will ship worldwide.
