E3 --zips and squashed newborn?

Have recently purchased my E3 and really love it but whilst walking discovered 2yr old ds was happily unzipping his seat, I noticed just in time to prevent him toppling on to newborn. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, how do you attach the paniers?

?? I use the zips to lie my dd down, its not too far back if the straps at the back aren;t undone, and if they are in it, it is easier to do the zips up again afterwards. Buy a seat liner that covers the zips?
dunno about the panniers though... not quite that advanced here!

jenthehen, my ds discovered this also....I just had to keep an eye out for it and be very firm!
He worked it out one time we had parked him in it to go to sleep - next thing we knew he had exited the pushchair via the newborn section (baby not in it thankfully!)
It becomes a non issue when you move to the two toddler configuration.

Yes have had that problem with 2yr old undoing zips. I wasn't to worried at the start but then had to explain that he can't do this when baby is in it. He has done it once but dad caught him and explianed to him. Paniers I'm not sure about either, but I have e-mailed P&T to get info on them. I think the idea of a liner is a good one

Thanks everyone, may have to invest in a seat liner and will have to keep a close watch on him in the meantime!

At the risk of being lynched by all you E3 lovers I really can't help but post - I think those E3s with a baby tucked underneath (where bags are usually kept)and a toddler on top are insane. I have seen a few around lately and wonder why on earth would anyone choose to put their baby in one of these things.

Sorry if I sound hostile but I honestly can't understand the appeal??

annonymous, do you have a toddler and a baby? The alternative options are: buggy board (not great for long distances with young toddlers); tandem (horribly unmanoevrable); side by side buggy (wouldn't get up the steps to our house); or sling/back carrier plus single buggy. Or you can have a pushchair as small and manoevrable as a single 3 wheeler, that you can use as a single before babe arrives and again once toddler has outgrown the buggy.
But of course they're not compulsory, and if you don't like it, hey, don't waste your time thinking about it

And I really can't help but respond - don't buy one then.

Jen our panniers attach (i) round the main frame tube of the buggy 2 inches below the "keep clear when folding" sticker and (ii) round the tube the buggy bar goes into (there is also a Phil & Teds manufacturers sticker with their address etc on our one. They should then hand level? Make sense? Works for us

"hang" level, d'oh - my insanity rearing its ugly head

Ooh, hello all, was just about to post the same question about my panniers which have arrived today . Knew Bear would have the answer so thanks for that, I will go and check to see if I've got it right .

annonymous, have you seen babies tucked in to the parcel tray then? I believe that most of the users here tend to have a cocoon for their newborns .
