Thinking of getting one of these. Bubba is 3 months just and we are going on holiday next month. Pram is too big to take.

I haven't got one as yet but we are getting one for our holiday next month. www.groovystyle.co.uk are doing them at £157.99 delivered. I think stock is arriving with them this week.

We are taking our soon to Portugal and wanted our own stroller which we could take with us and this looks great!

Ive just noticed this thread having just posted (twice inadverdantly) about my vain attempt to find a decent sunshade for our Micralite.

I love it but it's not without faults... Until I find a decent shade for it I couldn't recommend it as a holiday buggy...

also I think its only suitable from 6 months so I dont think it will work for you bwdiK.

The basket is not the biggest - and unless its carrying quite a bit of ballast it would be quite easy to upend it. I used to be able to hook a supermarket basket over the handles of my last buggy with ease, but with the Micralite I have to balance the basket on top and its a bit wobbly

Another minor inconvenience is that the handlebar stoppers keep popping out. Mind you the chap at heir head office very accomodating and has sent me 2 replacement bits already.

All that aside, its superlight, its very easy to manouver and I know its shallow, but I'm a sucker for a swish design and it does look great.

oh yeah i forgot, its not quite as simple to fold up as I'd hoped. I find a bit clumsy, DH does it with ease, but my MIL doesnt stand a chance.

butwhatdoiknow · 16/05/2004 01:02

Well I went to Mothercare today and saw one there. I could not work out how to fold it at all. When the assistant finally managed it did indeed seem somewhat clumsy.

Mirror girl - You can get them for £100 on ebay - brand new and boxed.

Treacle tart (great name btw) - I thought it loked great too, but it didn't seem that light to me. Can you not just clip a normal parasol on it then.

I think I'm just gonna get a Maclaren Triumph - like every other b*gger!

i have a graco citisport plus, which lies completely flat and weighs about the same as the micralite. large basket, takes up hardly any room in the car, bus etc and can be folded easily.

treacletart · 16/05/2004 01:35

glad you like the moniker bwdik! well I looked at parasols today and couldnt work out exactly where to attach one succesfully also the aesthetics would be a bit skewy ... spaceage with frills looks abit weird - you see how shallow I am! but to be honest I'd like something that could give him a bit more uva/b protection iyswim. Can you really get them that cheap on ebay? Ive just done a search but couldnt find anything...

webmum · 16/05/2004 16:31

bwdik

have you had a look at Chicco Caddy? I found it great and v. convenient.

but maybe it's only suitable from 6 months, doesn't recline completely flat...

Mirrorgirl · 16/05/2004 19:45

Hi Treacletart,

I think you can get sunshades from

www.cheekyrascals.co.uk

I am not sure if it will fit the micralite though.

Thanks for the ebay tip, but I prefer to get them direct from a proper supplier as I know I will get good aftersales support from them.

Thanks.

treacletart · 24/05/2004 20:31

Hurray! The answer to the sunshade problem is a protect-a-bub visor shade (NOT the deluxe version)I've just got one from here it fits fine. Phew!

Mirrorgirl · 25/05/2004 19:55

Hi Treacletart....any reason why NOT the delux version....won't it fit?

treacletart · 09/06/2004 01:55

Hi Mirrorgirl - sorry onluy just seen this - the deluxe version has extra fabric that hangs above the visor part designed to cover the whole baby if you want - but it really doesnt work on the micralite because the hood is a.too narrow and b. doesn't come out far enough - seriously it's like chucking a sheet over it and the fabric literally sits on your childs face. the non deluxe version is visor only and sits quite snugly on the micralite hood if you tie it to itself rather than the buggy. It's quite deep and provides loads of shade without hitting his face. Hope this makes sense. It is difficult to describe without a physical demo. Hope the infos not too late for you...

Mirrorgirl · 09/06/2004 15:49

Thanks for the info...I've just got one from groovystyle where I got the pram from. Only got it yesterday and haven't really tried it as yet...but hopefully a nice sunny weekend ahead will allow us to road test it ready for Portugal.

I must say I love the pram, being able to pick it up with one hand and fold it so easily is such a help. As much as I loved my Jeep Scirocco this Micralite is the bees knees!

Gem13 · 15/06/2004 16:04

Saw my first one today (pretty swish) and wondered if there were any more Micralite owners out there with any further updates?

Ixel · 16/06/2004 12:14

On a scale of one to ten, how practical is it for taking round the shops? and up to what age would it be ok for? am getting seriously tempted to sell the 3 wheeler and have a change... Do thay come with raincovers? I know ther's prob a review somewhere but I'm too lazy to look today!!

Mirrorgirl · 06/07/2004 18:23

Sorry for not responding earlier but been on our holibobs in the Algrave. The pram was a godsend, folded up and got in the back of the Clio no problems. With the protect-a-bub Ben was fine being pushed about with a peace of mind that he wasn't getting burnt!

As for pushing it around the shops it is nice and lightweight, so very good...much better than our Jeep pram. It comes with a raincover.
