Advice on a Citreon C3 Picasso...

Hi everyone... hoping those of you out there with children already can offer a bit of advice on cars. I'm a first time mum, on a budget, and I need a small (live in a city) but practical car for when the baby arrives. I drive a 1997 nissan micra at the moment but I don't think it'll be safe enough or big enough when the baby is here. We plan on trying to get a second hand bugaboo bee so our pram will not be huge and will fold easily. We went to look at a 2010 citreon c3 picasso yesterday and I like it because of the higher seats and lots of head room - think it'll be practical for getting the baby in and out - but I wonder if there will be enough storage space or what it'll be like to drive. Any advice? (NB I went to the mumsnet car reviews page but the links for 'read more' were broken so although there were four reviews there I couldn't read them - have reported it but no idea how long it'll take to get fixed!)

Thanks!

Amanda

A nasty heap of French shit. Make friends with a local mechanic.

Well I really liked mine! Moved to another country so traded it in but it had a great big boot and took the oyster pearl no problem plus some shopping. Makes the baby seat nice and high so they can see out of the window and I liked the view. Would have preferred a Qashqai but that was too much for me. Had mine for 2 years with no issues at all.

We looked at the C3 Picasa but ended up going for a Qashqai which we love. The panoramic sunroof gives you the same sort of sense of light and space as the Citroen's big windscreen, you have a high driving position, and it's very smooth to drive. We have a Bugaboo Bee which fits easily into the boot. Only downside is that it's hard to fit car seats into for some reason. We managed to fit in a Maxi Cosi Pebble but it took about an hour to get the base in.

Picasso, not Picasa! Sorry.

Storage space isn't bad for the Picasso, it's got 500-litre boot space. What size boot are you after?

Most versions are pretty comfortable to drive to be honest but it doesn't offer as much rear legroom as the Ford B-Max, might be worth looking into. Smile
