My eldery dad who lives on his own came round today to ask me about his phone bill. He is very hard of hearing so doesn't use his phone much at all but we can get hold of him and him us if we need to. Consequently his bill for calls is usually less than £5 per quarter and has been since me and my brother left home, 10 years ago at least.
His neighbour told him that he should be on the BT Low Users tariff and showed him his phone bill. His neighbour uses his phone so little (same as my dad) that they give him a rebate every quarter so he's actually in credit with BT.
I looked on the leaflet offering services that came with the bill - nothing about Low Users there.
I went on the website - nothing obvious there. It was only when I did a search that I found the page about it. I had to ring them up to change my dad's tariff which took me 20 mins and there is NO way my dad would have managed this, being so deaf.
Why the hell haven't they written to my dad he's entitled to this, or at least included it in their leaflets? Robbing swines . I'm writing a letter of complaint tomorrow. There must be 100s of pensioners (and other people too) who are entitled to this and don't realise it.
