Recaro car seats or any other group I,II,III car seats

Has anyone got one and got any feedback as I can find nothing much online about them? Been looking at the young sport or the start.
My mum is buying a new car and needs to get a seat for Dd who has just turned three and is pretty small for her age. There are loads of high back boosters but these are all too big and loads of good group one seats which would last her a year so not worth buying. I would really like one with a five point harness which seems to be the problem so apart form the young sport the only other options I can see are the Britax but never liked Britax seats for some reason and an M&P one again not sure about their seats.

I've been looking at a Recaro Young Sport as it was the only one at Halfords that seemed to fit (long and very dull story), but they only had a damaged display model. I asked them to check other branches and none neraby have it in stock. I got in touch with Recaro and they said that it has been discontinued.

Dd has a Recaro Start; it's a lovely seat. It's sturdy and well-made, but has plenty of padding so very comfortable. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and all the fabric parts are removable and machine washable.

If you go for one, I'd recommend you get the optional footrest as well, it's well worth spending the extra money on.

The only 1-2-3 seats that did at all passably in Which trials were the Britax Evolva 123 Ultra (58% in 2006) and the Recaro Start Plus (49% in 2005).

Which has slammed lots of multigroup seats - the M&P Elan, the Britax Ranger, the Concord Trimax X-Line, the Britax Trio and the Meggy Kombi (all 2005) and the M&P Alto (2006) were blacklisted as 'Don't Buy!'.

I think it might be worth revisiting Britax...

We have the Evolva Ultra. Really good IMO (but Britax!).

Needs a v. long seatbelt to fit it though.

I really didn't like the britax 123 one, it was better than some models but they have so little padding on the seats (the back wasn't too bad unlike most of them) I really wouldn't want to have to sit on one for a long time, unlike both the recaro ones which both seem really comfy and well made.
The Halfords here had the start and I have seen it online, trying now to convince granny that it feels more comforatble than the sport and not that I like the idea of having the speakers it the headrest.
Is the seat long enough for an older child though, it does look really small?

Dd is 5.5 and the size of an 8 year old - she has plenty of room left in the seat of her Start. It adjusts at the shoulders so there's plenty of height for an older child as well.

LIZS · 17/11/2006 14:58

There are two Evolva 123 models though - the Ultra has more padding and adjustable width.

My previous post about the depth of the seat isn't really clear - the seat is adjustable front to back. It's adjustable across the shoulders and above them too.
