So, everyone who loves their Panasonic bread machine....

....Is it actually better than any other bread machine you have tried, or is it the only one you've had?

I'm asking because my mum is going to get me a new bread machine for Xmas (my old one still works but it only does small and medium loaves) and I don't know whether to go for another Morphy Richards, on the grounds that my old one is great, or the Panasonic as everyone here seems to love it.

Also, the Panasonic has a nut and raisin dispenser, but on the other hand the Morphy Richards has a flip-down paddle and no viewing window. [indecisive emoticon]

Any views?

(I mean the Panasonic has no window but the Morphy Richards has; sorry.)

I have one and I love it.First one I have owned but never had a duff loaf yet

Thanks Bananaknickers
Do you make a range of breads - wholemeal as well as white? My Morphy Richards is weakest on 100% wholemeal, so if I could get one that was good at that it would be an improvement.

I will tell you when DH gets off his backside and makes the first loaf in it ! We had a £30 from Tescos which was completely rubbish, so we do have a comparison.

LOL Kittypickle.
In our house it's the one thing dh won't do - he is extremely domestic and wonderful but I make all the bread. (Possibly because he rightly surmises that if he admits to being able to, he'll end up doing that as well )

Had a breville which made OK granary bread but bad white then the heating element went. Now have a panasonic and it's soooooo much better, the white bread is fantastic and even good on the fast bake. Fruit and nut dispenser means I can wake up to cinnamon and raisin bread for breakfast.
Can't tell you about 100% wholemeal cos we only make the 50% one. Have had to reduce the amount of water we use to get the best results though.

Had Hinari which sometimes made good bread but was erratic, also only made square loaf but very tall so a lot of waste. Big hole from paddle too. have panasonic 252 now and its great, only one duff laof and that was from rather old flour.

panasonic good cos of no window

condensation thus does not form

had another cheapo one and twas shite.

KathyMCMLXXII · 14/11/2006 09:41

Oh that's useful Fillyjonk - I thought the lack of window was a negative but there is some point to it, hmm?

Right, it is most definitely far, far better than our old one. Last night was a 100% wholemeal one, have a 70% wholemeal on the go as a comparison. DD thinks the bread is fantastic, so that's a hit.

Avalon · 14/11/2006 13:59

I bought the Panasonic because it was the only one which made a good wholemeal loaf when some magazine ran a test.

I'm very pleased with it.

Ah thank you, Kittypickle.
Have emailed my parents and instructed them accordingly.
