Have finally given in and decided to buy my DD's one each for Christmas. However, I am hugely ignorant on the subject can someone please give me the low down on what I will need, add on bits, best buys etc. Many thanks in advance

I am no expert, but dd has a Nintendo DS which is a step up from the Gameboy (and it can take both Gameboy games and Nintendo DS games, which is much better)
She loves Nintendogs (you need Nintendi DS to play it) and Animal Crossing, I think most girls would love both games. She is 7 and doesn't like games with 'levels' that you have to reach in order to do new stuff.
HTH

What age should kids be to really enjoy a gameboy or nintendo?

We do a good bit of transatlantic travel, and am always interested in things that could keep dd occupied for oh....9 hours at a stretch....

dizzydo · 13/11/2006 12:11

What do I need to buy so they can use it with nothing missing on the big day.

it should come with instructions leaflet and charger, sometimes a game.
charge it the day before Xmas if you can so they can play it on the day

mousiemousie · 13/11/2006 12:23

Is 7 a good age for a nintendo ds?

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 13/11/2006 12:25

yes, perfect age

dizzydo · 13/11/2006 12:52

Cod is the DS Lite the very latest version its not being superseeded by something else in time for Christmas is it??

the ds lite PINK is the latest version (I refuse to buy it though as I hate the pink thing to encourage girl gamers, white much cooler IMO especially when customised with stickers )

ARgos the best place to buy - buy it with nintendogs and you get a free accessory pack, if they both get one they can 'talk' to eachother

they still sell game boys and tehy are much cheaper - the game boy advance still has lots of good games and comes in pink

Thanks Enid. Do you know if you use the wireless connection to play with another party whether you need two copies of the same game, ie. does it check serial numbers or can you do it with only one copy IYSWIM dont really want to have to buy two sets of identical games. (I am slowly understanding all this I think)

My ds has a dslite. He has mario party and could play this with his mate on only the one game. This kept then occupied for hours in a freezing cold caravan in cornwall early this month. I do think there is a new one though, isn't it called the nintendo whee or something? Definately go for the ds lite rather than the ds cos it lights up which is much better.

Enid · 13/11/2006 14:21

nintendogs needs a game each

other good 'girls' games are
Zoo tycoon
Animal Crossing
pippa funnells stud farm
Sims Pets
Princess Peach
bubble islands

TheHighwayCod · 13/11/2006 14:52

mario games VERY pop here
more than fifa actually
ds3 ( 3 ) is very good at it too
