Which dolly for dd?

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 10:56

I see Woolies has a sale on. Maybe now is the time I should get my a into g and get the kiddies presents.

Dd is 2.5 and amazingly 'dollified', she's a real little mummy. She has a couple of basic dolls, the most advanced ones has eyes that move. Now I am looking at a baby Annabel. What would be a good buy this Christmas?

i am buying dd1 (4) a baby annabel

to avoid WW3 i am buying dd2 (2) the same

tortoise · 13/11/2006 10:58

My DD2 is 2.4 and wants a baby born.I think i prefer the look af annabell so am looking out for any in the before christmas sales!

nailpolish · 13/11/2006 10:59

yes, i have been told that annabel 'looks' better than baby born

baby born apparently doesnt need batteries tho, how does THAT work?

princessmel · 13/11/2006 11:00

All the little girls I know love their Annabels. They seem to be the most popular. You can get Baby chou chou and Tiny Tears too. Not sure what the difference is between them all. Also toyrs r Us and ELC do their own versions.
My dd is too young to tell the difference. She has a soft bodied one I got in Asda for £1.98!!!

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 11:02

This is why I'm confused.
Here look at Woolies
Baby Annabel
Baby Born
I was expecting Baby Annabell to be more expensive. Look at those prices though

I live the fact Baby Annabel burps.

How old is dd princessmel?

We started out with really cheap small ones, but I think it would be nice for her to move onto something more interactive now.
Besides this one is looking really grotty now. She took her clothes off during the 'hot' weather and they never went back on

princessmel · 13/11/2006 11:09

She is 15 months. She has just started pretending to feed it etc. My dh's gran gives her dollys that she gets from charity shops and knits clothes for them so we too have lots of plastic ones. They're fine for now.
Maybe for her 2nd birthday I'll ask the grandparents to buy her a 'posher' one.!

amazonianwoman · 13/11/2006 11:35

Baby Annabel is great, friend's DD (almost 4) has one and my DD (almost 2.5) loves it. Am going to buy her one for when baby no.2 is due next March.

MrsDoolittle - bargain price from Woolies thanks!! Is that just online or do you know if they are instore too (to save the £4.95 delivery charge )

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 11:37

I don't know to be honest, but that is a good point though. If I go into town today, I'll let you know

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 13/11/2006 11:48

Just called local Woolies - it's same price in store

Thanks for saving me £12

Off to get one now and hope that she doesn't find it before next March

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 11:50

Congratulations! I was 6 months pregnant this time last year too. He is now crawling. Time flys.....

princessmel · 13/11/2006 11:55

You can order it online and have it delivered to your local shop. You don't have to pay delivery charge that way either.

tortoise · 13/11/2006 14:13

WW1 gets you 10% discount online.
Thats not the one with real tears is it? Hope not! I would rather it didn't need water in it!

amazonianwoman · 13/11/2006 14:40

Box still in car, but think it is the one with real tears. Maybe just don't tell DD she cries then you don't need to put water in it

Thanks MrsD for the fab link - I love a bargain!

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 14:42

Thanks tortoise

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 14:51

I'm getting a headache trying to decide.
Which one did you go for AW?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/11/2006 14:56

i still want to know why annbel needs batteries but baby born doesnt

tassis · 13/11/2006 14:57

oooh, i'm looking forward to having this to think about in a few years time.

have you thought about a lillydoll?

scotlou · 13/11/2006 15:03

dd got Baby Born last year - it has the great advantage (apart from not needing batteries) of being waterproof so can go in the bath. She is getting Baby Annabel this year though - but I wonder how long it'll be before dh removes the batteries!

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 15:05

Nailpolish look
see?

OP posts:
princessmel · 13/11/2006 16:14

Whats a lillydoll?

amazonianwoman · 13/11/2006 18:58

MrsD - no idea which one I've gone for, was too swayed by the price! It looks pretty much the same as the one in your link but with a different outfit. I'm sure the box says she cries real tears, but will check and let you know.

TBH I'm not that bothered if it's not the absolute latest model, DD will never know that she should've cried real tears if she doesn't - if that makes sense!

hulababy · 13/11/2006 19:01

Baby annabel uses batteries to make it cry/laugh/burp and the facial movements work.

Baby Born cries tears, but not with sound effects ot movement.

MrsDoolittle · 13/11/2006 19:03

I don't care about the module either. I was just wondering whether you wnet for the Baby Born or Baby Annabell.
I think I'm going for Baby Annabell based on some useful advice on the other thread.
