i admire your persistance franch !

actually ive got this thread on watch coz i wouldnt mind a gadget that dices either (rather than just turning food to mush)

hope someone knows of one, but doesnt sound like it, huh?

franch · 15/11/2006 15:52

Well thanks for posting, nappies, if only to make me feel a bit less invisible!

oh ditto. which makes me think there is no such thing as a food processor which dices.

'scrap innit?

florenceuk · 15/11/2006 21:56

Well my Magimix claims to dice but I have never done it! My gues is that you would first need to do lengthways slicing and then feed the strips through the tube for it to work. For everyday use a Japanese-style plastic mandolin might work? I do like the Magimix though as a fairly hefty powerful food processor. I mostly use mine for fairy cakes, pancake mix, and chopping up onions, carrots, etc for industrial quantities of bolognaise sauce.

NappiesGalore · 16/11/2006 09:50

as i suspected florence. when it comes to dicing; personally, if im going to go to all the hassle of washing, maybe peeling and cutting lenthways, i might as well do the last bit too...

but i do love a laboursaving gadget and i looooove good food. watched uktv food for an hour or so this am and ds1 and i have decided to become chefs. yum.

franch · 17/11/2006 15:58

oh poo. thanks for replying tho florence. wonder what i should buy then - have also been looking at the pricey KitchenAid, and Cuisinart - will any of these change my life ............ ????

What about those gadgets that you put the onion underneath and press up and down on it? or is that too small a dice?

boboggglimpopo · 17/11/2006 16:16

Franch - I just bought replacement magimix on special offer and it was missing a part. Took it back and they had sold out - so I bought a Kenwood for less than half the price. It is brilliant - more practical than the magimix and does everything except dance - or dice.....

Good luck with your quest!

NappiesGalore · 17/11/2006 19:12

actually tracyk is onto something there. was roped into a 'pampered chef' evening a few weeks ago and they had one there. i was too busy scorning and sulking to buy it tho

franch · 17/11/2006 19:52

Hmmm - is this the kind of thing you have in mind tracyk? Sounds good, altho I was hoping for something that'd chop other veg as well as onions - you'd think they'd've invented something by now, can't be that hard surely??

Anyway I'm going to start a couple of new threads, separating out the dicing and the food processor dilemmas ...

I have a great gadget for dicing

It is one of these , very effective!

franch · 17/11/2006 20:03

Ha - are you commenting on my sheer laziness, CD?
