Help me find this digital radio

This is going to be quite a vague request, but I saw an ad a few months ago in either the Observer or the Sunday Times for a digital radio which would allow you to listen to your favourite UK stations from anywhere in the world (not a longwave radio).

I only skimmed the ad thinking what a good idea it was and would now like to buy this as I have moved to Singapore and DH and I desperately miss our favourite stations - we do listen through our computers (but would be nice to be able to hear from kitchen etc)

I have tried googling it but have come up with nothing. If you have seen the same ad or have a name for this, please let me know.

Many thanks.

I'd be interested myself! As far as I was aware dab radio can only receive the stations that are being broadcast digitally locally. My parents in France cant receive bbc digital on a dab for instance. maybe someone's deveopd some sort of wireless internet receiver?

Is it a shortwave radio you're thinking of?

here's some shortwave radios - are they what you're looking for?

Rojak · 12/11/2006 09:01

Hi Emsiewill

No definitely not a shortwave radio (well at least it wasn't marketed on the ad as a shortwave radio)

It definitely said digital and I suspect it may harness some sort of technology like that which treacletart has just mentioned.

Anyone else? I'm hoping they might have rerun the ad again and someone might remember it (I don't get the UK papers anymore)

Thanks

Not this is it? Very expensive, though, and it looks like you need a wi fi network in the first place.

Rojak · 12/11/2006 11:18

That looks like it. Is a wifi network the same as wireless broadband? We have wireless and it would be bliss to be able to listen to UK radio stations here in Singapore.

Thanks!!

Yes - I think a wi fi network would be the same as wireless broadband . Good luck - hope it works!

Hi Im a professional televison and film makeup artist with 20years experience. Im a friend of abbymumsnet as well. We used to work together on a womans weekly magazine.
I was thinking of setting up an online makeover service for busy mums (and others) and i wanted to get your thoughts.

I would suggest what makeup to use, how to use it, as well as dealing with makeup and skincare problems. I was also thinking of offering a service where mums could send me photos of themselves without makeup on and i could give them a complete makeover by email or post..........would be grateful for any feedback.

Er. she hasn't quite got the hang of this yet... please go to style where I will repost for her!
