Id buy one for 200 quid on credit. Meanwhile saving for a better one, if the 200 quid one lasts a year its the equivilent of about 15 quid a month rental? It if lasts 2...7.50 a month.
You NEED a dishwasher Hello btw

I used to rent a washing machine. I quite liked renting because if anything goes wrong it gets repaired for you. So it doesn't worj out too bad overall, plus you can swap for a new one every year.

We've been renting our washing machine/tumbledryer/fridge freezer since we moved in in '97. It's been good, because in that time I've upgraded them a few times (whenever the washing machine gets smelly ) but we're planning to give it up and buy our own after christmas. It's now got to the point where the cost of renting (even the most basic models) isn't really worth it.

ATM rent Bosch appliances (basic models) @ around £33pm (as I've had them since 2002), if I upgrade it's going to going to go up to £41ish.

If I buy interest free on my catalogue (Indesit and Beko iirc) it will cost about £50pm (WM isn't the basic model though) but it would be paid off in a year. Even if the WM dies in a few years (never had a problem with TDs or fridges) I still would have saved one or two years money (nearly £1k! OMG never worked that out before!)

How about putting it on youe existing credit card, then applying for a capital one interest free till Jan 2008 card and spending the nxt year paying it off interest free.

Rickman, this might be no good to you now (or at all), but you might be able to get an old but working DW to tide you over through a freecycle group in your area.

The idea is that people post when they want to give away/get stuff, and (obviously, given the name!) it's free. See www.freecycle.org.
