Car seats - combination or not?

Have been looking at car seats for future sprog.

It seems that that I can buy (1) rear facing then (2) forward facing up to age 4 then (3) booster up till age 11.

But I've seen combination seats that combine either (1) and (2) or (2) and (3).

Since there are many individual (1) (2) and (3) seats then they must be selling. But buying the combination seats would be cheaper.

Is there some "problem" I should be aware of with the combination seats?

in all the which independant crash tests, the multi group seats are almost always much less safe...

the 'safest' seats they test are only ever single group seats....

but be awae that some single group seats are pretty appauling and dangerouse too...

if in doubt go for maxi ccosi which seem to universally be the safest, though britax make some safe seatsas well!... and all of britax current ones do 'ok'

the britax evlova 123 is the only multi group that has done ok as far as i remember

Yes, cheaper, but with a newborn you may find it a bit tedious having a huge combination seat as you often end up dragging them into mother/toddler groups, other people's houses etc (cos baby is asleep & you don't want to wake). Not to mention they won't fit supermarket trolleys. Those things can make quite an impact on your daily life, which can be difficult enough Also if you're planning to have more, easier to have stage 0, 1 and 2. Maxi -cosi cabrio are recommended by which for newborns & v.cosy, easy to use - Halfords was doing them for about £50 recently (the non-isofix version).

Combo seats aren't very popular in the UK
We have a US isofix one which I will use for no2 but probably in conjuction with our existing Britax rockatot
here are the which best ones...
