I need it to be

  1. Light... live on 2nd floor
  2. Max 24 inches wide, to get in stairwell; alot seem to be too wide on the back wheels
  3. Tough enough to jog on dirt tracks etc, not just pavements
  4. Not costing the earth
  5. Easy to fold up etc.

Sorry if this topic has been done before!

Thanks, but I got one and had to return it as the back wheels were too wide for the bus and our stairwell! And the brake kept jumping out every time the bus jolted! I was very disappointed actually, as in all other respects I really liked it.I want something just like that, but narrower...

have you looked into the mountain buggy terrain I had one for my first child and it was great, I did alot of running on/off road. Now I have a Phil & Ted, not that great for running but ok for walking and carring two children. Also a Kool Stride might be another one it might be a bit wide though. hope this helps:0

I've got a Baby Jogger II, which is brilliant for running, very lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. Very tough and hard-wearing; lifetime warranty on the frame, so designed to take hard knocks. It is about the lightest there is (about 7.5kg), and the wheels are quick release, so it's easy to make it even lighter. I find it easy to fold up (took a bit of practice) and it fits in my car boot (in a smaller car it has to be slotted behind one of the passenger seats; not sure about width (it's a fairly snug 'bucket' seat, so the child doesn't move around), but it is fairly long, and for that reason, I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than running/walking ie. it's too big to push round the shops and to take on public transport. They cost around £300, so not cheap, but you could probably find a second hand one on e-bay.

Sorry to be a pest Stringbean, but could you measure the total width of it (i.e. the back wheels)? I've had such probs with the width of our stairs!! Thanks so much.

According to the US website (sorry, can't do links, but its www.babyjogger.com) it's 25.5 inches wide with rear wheels on and 20 inches without, so not sure if it's narrow enough for you. I did spot that there were a couple on e-bay at the moment if you're interested.

Ta! I've actually decided its friutless trying to find one that fits! So I've got an alu thing off ebay, and will just have to do a one handed juggle setting it up with ds in the other hand, and then go out the back way, so having to navigate the steps and very uneven car park!!! And will keep the other buggy for bus, shopping etc. Thanks for all your help!
