School shoes ON A BOY that are as good as new after 8 weeks of school - can it be TRUE?

Bought these in August for DS starting school in reception in September.

Just looked at them thinking he probably needs a new pair after Christmas (DD already on her second pair this term ) and they are unscuffed, unmarked, soles perfect, leather as good as new - and, more importantly, they still fit him - and we walk to school most days.

I am happily shocked and thought you might like a recommendation for school shoes that don't wear out in a week! They are very comfortable and I thought it was a good transition from the trainers he previously wore constantly to school shoes.

DS aged 7 wore his M&S shoes for the whole school year last year . Admittedly they were on their last legs for the last half term, but even so, I was really impressed. He is very heavy on his shoes normally and plays a lot of footie at school too.

i usually go to clarks but like the girls shoes as well as bootws for ds , how do the sizes compare to clarks ?

gigglinggoblin · 07/11/2006 18:09

thats good to know, we need new school shoes as i recently took back the ones i bought from adams. in 6 weeks ds1s sole came off and ds2s toe wore through the end. they did give money back with no quibble so cant complain too much but wont be buying from there again!

I gave up on Clarks having taken DD's shoes back twice due to poor fit. I trust my own and my children's judgement now and fit them myself - luckily they are a standard width fitting. Got DD's shoes in Next last time. I don't know what she does but her shoes look awful and scuffed in no time at all.

Problem is that they don't come in different width fittings which is no good if your child has anything other than average feet.

true, luckily mine are bog standard!

That's really impressive, K Bear!

I wanted to get these for DS2 in September but he refused (he is 13 so I can't wrestle him to the floor and force them on him ) so he got Kickers from the proper shoe shop instead, for about £45 .

My friend's DD is a C width fitting - she has a nightmare getting shoes.

I know Jan, I am amazed. Had to share! He will grow out of them before they wear out - tis a miracle!

Thanks for the recomendation, DS managed to scrape the leather???? coating off his new shoes in a week, I have to rub polish in every morning or they look rubbish. I will have a look at M&S, good prices too. Thanks again
