I posted, about 6 months ago, about a school project I was doing for my A Levels. I needed all of your thoughts on the idea of a kid's garden toy that converted into something suitable for an adult gathering and did not need to be stored. The idea was for parents with not much space in their garden that didn't have room for all their kid's toys and chairs and tables for when they have friends over.
I have now made the product!! It is a stool, when you remove the lid it reveals a spinning disc, this disc has many holes in it of different shapes. The product is connected to a hose which sprays out of one hole just underneath the spinning disc; therefore, when you spin the disc the water comes out in different directions (depending on which hole is covering the water spray). This is a fun game for children as they don't know which way the water is going to spray out next.
Then, when the kids have gone to bed. Mum or Dad can put the lid back on and use it as a table or stool in their garden to have somewhere else for one of their friends or family to sit when its a nice evening.

I would love to hear your feedback, positive or negative.
Here are some questions I have devised for you to answer.

1.Would you consider buying this product for £42.00? Why?
2.Do you think that your child(ren) would enjoy using this product?
3.Can you think of any immediate issues you can recognise with the finished product?
4.Do you think that it would suit your garden? Why?
5.Would the name ‘SeatWave’ capture your attention in a store? What do you like/dislike about it
6.Any additional comments?

1 yes as a present for someone else's child (don't tend to buy much for own kids)
2 yes (age 3 & 5)
3 it needs to be made from something that won't rot with the water. Wouldn't last long or, probably pass safety regs.
4 don't have a garden
5 love it
6 you have done a brilliant job. Multifunctional and attractive. However, I think it would need to be plastic so wouldn't look so good.

Well done, A* from me :)

  1. We have a low income so Id probably not part with £42.00 for it, as we only have a piddly little back yard so to me it's not something id get £42.00s worth of use put of. However, I do think that it is priced correctly.
  2. My kids would love it
  3. Id worry the water would make the wood eventually split or blister, and that id have to dry it completely after each use 4)Yes. It is a beauty to be honest. Grown up looking enough to sit amongst our outdoor furniture and pot plants. Entirely our taste.
  4. SeatWave wouldnt compel me to buy or not buy it. Im not wowed by the name but at least it is explanatory

Hello! I love the idea of the toy but am not very taken with its dual function. Thinking about it, I think this is probably true of most things I would buy. I like things to do one thing well, and for their purpose to be clear. Ime 'conversions' are gimmicky and sacrifice function on both sides, if that makes sense.

That said, I do enjoy things that blur the boundary between object / toy.
I really like the way it looks (though will the materials stand up to water over time?) and think it's enough for it to be just a toy and a lovely looking object, no need for the seat / table aspect.

I live in a hot place and we take the children to splash pads. I really like the idea of having something similar at home! I would buy it if I felt it were more durable, and it was marketed just as a lovely looking water toy.

It looks lovely and the idea is great. Well done! Can't believe the cool things you can do for A level these days. Smile

How about 'Hide n' Seat'?

You need to post a video so we can see how it works.
