Does it exist?

mountain buggy. though it is quite big....

bran · 31/10/2006 09:11

What about a Mountain Buggy Breeze . It's pretty lightweight, it's not an umbrella fold but it does fold smallish.

katierocket · 31/10/2006 10:41

Standard mountain buggy too big when folded I think.
THe Breeze sounds interesting but the description makes it sound like it's a town buggy?

we're getting the mutsy with a carrycot. Still quite big when folded though.

piglit · 31/10/2006 10:47

Phil and Ted's E3 is the best imho. We've had a couple of mountain buggies and the Phil and Ted folds up much better than others. It's the only one that I can get into my boot along with a dog.

CountessDracula · 31/10/2006 10:51

we had a Maclaren one that went flat

It was fine

CountessDracula · 31/10/2006 10:54

a techno it was

CountessDracula · 31/10/2006 10:55

oh sorry missed the off road bit

Clary · 31/10/2006 10:59

Instep nipper is very light to push and to carry. the swheels come off too.
why must it not be huge when folded? (I won't deny, it is hardly an umbrella fold!)

EnidVorhees · 31/10/2006 11:02

no it does not exist

get a solid off road three wheeler and use a sling until then, keep a tecno in the car for town

twinklemegan · 31/10/2006 11:02

Why not use a sling for walking off road?

twinklemegan · 31/10/2006 11:03

EnidVorhees - great minds think alike!

Bramshott · 31/10/2006 11:05

I like my XTS Twister - lies flat from birth, very good off-road, and folds horzontally across the middle rather than vertically (iyswim).

katierocket · 31/10/2006 11:53

Yes I've been thinking maybe the sling / three wheeler when older and pushchair for town might be best way to go.

Clary - because car boot not that big.

You can use the P&T E3 from birth. We used it for ds1 and ds2 when ds2 was newborn. It was a life saver - I could get it in the car and go out for lovely long walks. It is as easy to push as any buggy I've tried and that was with 2 dses in it.

katierocket · 31/10/2006 12:09

piglit - what car do you have?

OP posts:
katierocket · 31/10/2006 12:39

shameless bump.

Anyone wtih a P&T's E3, I would be really interested to know how small it does fold i.e. what car you drive?

sunnydelight · 31/10/2006 13:00

I have an XTS Boogie2 which is truly suitable from birth (lies completely flat) and is great off road. It's easy to fold too.

bran · 31/10/2006 13:20

I have a big off-roader (Urban Detour) which I love but never put in the car because of its weight and various lighter buggies which I have never really been happy with. I think if I do it all again I might try the Breeze as a compromise. I reckon that it ought to be reasonable off-road for all but the most extreme environment as it has 3 wheels for stability and reasonably large, air tyres for getting over bumps and a smoother ride. The difference between it and a proper off-roader is that it has a shorter wheel-base and no suspension.

A few of my friends have P&T's and it is pretty good, lighter and smaller than most 3 wheelers but still not exactly tiny.

IdrisTheDragon · 31/10/2006 13:23

I have a P&T and a VW Golf and it fits fine. And don't need to take the wheels off.

bran · 31/10/2006 13:32

One friend with a P&T has a mid-sized Volvo saloon, one doesn't have a car and I'm not sure about the third. Sorry, not very helpful.

katierocket · 31/10/2006 15:10

ok, thanks for the input.

I quite like the look of the Britax Trekker
here which gets great write up in Which report but nowhere seems to stock it (by which I mean somewhere I can go and look at it rather than just online).

hi Katierocket. How about the new britax vigour 3? Had a play with it in Mothercare & it's nice & light to push & folds up pretty compactly (especially if you remove the seat unit before folding)

Vigour 3

If you can find a second hand one, the Land Rover buggy is fab. It's light and the wheels come off easily to make it smaller. It's designed for off-road use and it has a separate cot, like the Mountain Buggy, for use from birth.
