OK PVC windows vs wood

I have had a quote for ultra expensive eco wooden windows - which are lovely but £20K

I have had a quote for cheapo pvc windows - which are acceptable - at less than £3K

Is there anything in between...preferably with a website that I can work out the prices on?

so 10 for 7.5
22 for 16.6 plus 5 doors and a french window

Hmmmm I think 20 was about right

So back to softwood

wow, 22 windows, but you say you can get 22 windows+some doors done for only £3k in PVC? That's amazing, too!

Katymac · 27/10/2006 19:33

Oops that was a mistype - it's £7 .....sorry (off the peg - standard sizes)

if you have softwood that would cost lots in maintenance

Katymac · 27/10/2006 19:39

I know - but I am short on capitol for the project

I'd rather go low maintenence but I may not be able to afford to

i suppose you have to work out how much the maintenance costs for the windows would be in the future and set aside funds to cover it. i'd prefer it to pvc though

I need a partner with lots of money - hen I can have what I want

you do, it's brilliant what you're doing though! maybe someone lurking that wants a good investment!

I get to see the bank man on Monday
The getting rid of asbestos man on Tuesday

My life is a social whirl

O wow someone has just said I might get a discount on that number of windows (which might bring the cost within my budget)
O wow O wow O wow

Bringing this discussion to light again as I am in the process of needing to replace some rotten wooden windows. Not all windows need replacing but I am having difficulty with the cost. Any updated views out there? We have lots of trees nearby so am worried about keeping pvc windows clean but know that wooden windows can be expensive to repaint every other year.
