Car on HP

My lovely 13 yr old Audi A3 is unwell and about to cost me a lot of money, gearbox and clutchShock so I'm thinking of cashing it in while it still runs.
I don't need a big car as DP has a saloon from work.
I'm thinking of a KIA VANGO or Rio but want some first hand advice on buying a car on HP rather than finding a 2nd hand dealership that will guarantee it for a while.

Or failing that talk to me about hatchback cars that are around the 10k mark and can be got on low HP. Thinking £140 max per month.
Any recommendations please?!Grin

you could try pcp (i think that's what it's called) i have something with ford called ford options, where i pay an amount each month then after three years can either upgrade or cash in or buy the car outright. it's suits me and it's been okay so far, have upgraded easily.

it's just another option and you're not tied to a car and it's easy to upgrade

thatstoast · 01/03/2015 21:32

I'd also suggest looking at pcp as the figures you've quoted on HP don't really add up. Unless you're also putting in cash deposit. How much are you expecting to get for the audi?

I'm sorry I can't help much with the actual car aspect of it.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 01/03/2015 21:35

I have a fiat 500 on pcp, same deal as southeast.

Stars66 · 01/03/2015 21:38

I think we'll be lucky to get £500 for the Audi.Confused Such a shame as there should still be so much life in it, but I can't spend more money on it, what will go wrong next?!

I can do about £2000 deposit and think I meant that PCP not HP. It's all new to me so I'm a little confused Shock

Kia do interest free finance at times if you put down 50%. That then is traditional finance where you pay a set monthly amount and after 3 years the car belongs to you. Vango? Do you mean Venga - I have one. The boot is great, multi level.

PCP will have mileage limit, so make sure you are realistic in what mileage you will be doing and I would add on a bit so that you have some extra should you suddenly find you are doing more miles than you anticipated.

The dealer will take the Audi off your hands but what you will get for it may not that much. Negotiate as hard as you can to get a good trade in price.

i paid a £2000 deposit for my 2009 fiesta and paid £160 a month for it, three year period, then changed it at at the end of the agreement for a newer model.

\link{http://www.ford.co.uk/BuyingandprotectingyourFord/FinancefromFordCredit/FordOptions\this ford site may help explain it better}

so far i've found it to be good but i can't be doing with cars that need fixing all the time as I'm the main driver.

nannynick · 01/03/2015 21:46

The dealer will be able to do you credit examples, so pop in and ask them. They can also take a look at your Audi and may give a quote for trade-in on the spot, or will come back to you with a figure.

southeastastra · 01/03/2015 21:47

ford didn't care how many miles i had done even though i had agreed a certain amount

rb32 · 02/03/2015 16:31

It'll be cheaper fixing the A3 tbh. Clutches go anyway after 13 years and you'll probably only need the gearbox doing once in its life. If nothing else is wrong with it, and you've got £2000 then spend a few hundred fixing it then save the rest for anything else that may come up?

Stars66 · 02/03/2015 20:07

Problem is I just spent £250 on exhaust and mechanic quoted over £1000 to fix it. What will go next?

Nanny -Yes I meant the Venga, VANGO is my tentWink Would you recommend it?
