DD feet too small for shoes!

So my gorgeous 14 month PFB DD has finally (just about) started walking. So cue visit to a shoe shop to get her fitted for her first pair of shoes, very very excited! It turns out her feet are too bloody small! She's a 1 - 1.5 and according to the girl walking shoes start at 2. I asked in Clarks and they said they didn't have any walkers under a size 3! And she has very high arches too apparently.

So what the hell do we do now?! Obviously it's fine at home and at nursery etc for her to be running around in her bare feet / socks. But sooner or later we're going to have to let her walk outside and she definitely needs shoes for that. I have tiny feet too and her feet barely seem to have grown since she was born so I don't have any hopes for her feet suddenly leaping up to the "right" size.

Any ideas MN?

I managed to find shoes for dd in a little independent shoe shop yesterday, and she's a 2 1/2, but I had no choice, it was one pair of hideous gold expensive things only.
Dd1 was a 1 1/2 when she started walking, and I found little trainers in next that fitted. It wasn't long until she was in a bigger size.
Clarks do crawlers and cruisers smaller than a 3 but I'm not sure what size they start in.
Ds is a 3 1/2, but hhe's been walking since 10 months (15 months now) and he got his first pair yesterday too, so it will be a couple of months before she'll really need them.

Both my sons were walking early, and I just put them in crawlers until they were big enough for proper shoes. DS1 started out in things that were like socks, but with spikey rubber all over, and he'd worn the spikes down to nubs before his feet were big enough for something more proper.

I figured they weren't going to be walking very far outside (not entirely true in DS1's case - he happily bumbled the mile into town at 1!), and that the softer the soles the better for their little feet.

I would just buy her some Shoo or Daisy Root leather shoes. They will not interfere with her foot growth /development but will protect against the elements.

We live in Australia so my DD is nearly two and rarely wears shoes to walk around outside except when the ground is too hot! You might find by the time she is reliably walking outside it is warm enough to go without.

We just bought cruisers until her feet were big enough for walkers, she was absolutely fine walking outside in them (it would have been winter when she started walking I think).

eBay for second hand shoes?

We used Robeez until they were big enough for shoes.

I used a combination of Daisy Roots or Mocc-On slipper sock thingies with some waterproof overboots for splashing about in the mud etc. They worked nicely.

thanks very much for all the replies. I think a pair of Daisy Roots is in order for when she wants a little toddle outside and bare feet the rest of the time. Tbh given how quickly she takes her socks off I suspect she won't be too keen anyway. Like me she prefers to be in bare feet even when her feet are like little ice blocks!

update, having looked at the Daisy Roots site I emailed them to see what size I should go for and she has ended up offering to send me 2 pairs of barely seconds for half price as she said they're not really for use outside so if I only pay half I won't mind if they wear out faster. And she's not even asking me to pay up front.

So Daisy Roots are lovely, thanks for the recommendation!
