Looking for a smaller lightweight buggy - had looked at the Zapp but found a couple of threads saying they tip up? Anyone got one of these or a better alternative. Have had Maclarens before but wanted something different.

why do you want it?

i have a micralite and wouldn't generally recomned. I got it for one reason only-I was taking both my kids away alone, 22 month age gap, needed a non-double that I could steer one handed (so as to hold ds's hand). Actually christ knows why I did get it, I hardly used it, dd hates it and I just stuck to the sling really.

hmmm

no, prob wouldn't recommend

Why do you want something different? What precisely are you after?

(can I in any way persuade you with an Ergo? )

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 23/10/2006 14:19

oh hated because a. too light, thus kind of "buckles" on the kerb (more annoying than anything) and b. semi recline position- dd hates it.

Oh also, dd at 16 months can undo the straps. But she may be a freak in this matter.

I love my Micralite, light, easy to steer with one hand (two dogs in the other!) fits neatly into the car and looks pretty cool too! Highly recommend it and DD loves it too.

oh, just googled this - no definitely need a lighter buggy. We have a massive three wheeler but it is v heavy and the rain cover is a nightmare. I need an easy to manoevre buggy as have to navigate four year old with other hand.

eeek

micralite is your only option then if you can't be sold on an ergo.

there is, imo, no other buggy that can be reliably steered one handed.

on the plus side-good resale value.

aaah

yes, did a thread on this when dd was around that age and concluded-micralite.

you'd have thought there would be another option but...no, not really. nothing else is designed to steer one handed.

AlfredAitchcock · 23/10/2006 17:48

the jane carrera steers one-handed and is an umbrella fold. it also fully reclines. i don't have one, i've got the jane nomad, but i'd get one if i wanted a lighter buggy.

i have a micralite and i love it, lucy is just 7 months and seems to find it comfy, wouldn't use it a s my main buggy just yet, but for short trips/days out and holidays its a great buggy.

lucy seems to like the semi recline on it, and because its a hammock type seat it moulds to her so shes quite snug in it. i find it easy to steer, i hang my big skip hop changing bag off it without problem and i find it easy to push up kerbs and down kerbs. crap for a major shopping trip but i have another buggy for that anyway with a huge basket.

i would def recommend a micralite
