Hi, I'm thinking about buying a computer game for my 31/2 yr old (d)- seen Leap Ahead and Dorling Kindersley ones. Has anyone tried them, any recommendations...etc etc. Thanks

DSs like DKs "Learning Ladder" ones. DS1 has just moved onto the age 5-7 one and DS2 is starting on the 3-5 one. These are the only ones we've got.

Does your DD try the games on websites like Cbeebies etc?

Codswallop · 22/04/2004 18:13

Cbeebies is more than adequate for a 3yo, and free..! Did anyone else sign up for the woodland warriors club?? AND what did you think?

I haven't seen the Learning Ladder cd-rom for 3-5 year olds but my ds (5) loves the 5-7 one. I'd definitely recommend them. However, do not get sucked into buying the Play & Learn cds. They are too short for the money in my opnion.

dd (31 months) had a great time this morning on the nickjr.com website (more games than the .uk one if Americanised) There are a couple of matching pairs style games with different levels which were great for her to gain better mouse control. She finds it hard because she is left handed. ds also enjoys the more imaginative games there.

We have had several Jump Aheads. The Toddler one has been the best used so far and have been generally less impressed with the educational value of the others but ds has yet really to fully explore some of them.

We haven't got any real learning games, but the "Pingu - A Barrel of Fun" CD seems to be just the right level for my ds (who was 3 in January). He has learned to use the mouse, and enjoys the games. Also I find it less annoying than some others we've tried (especially Noddy) because you don't have to sit through the same bits of animation and instructions each time.

Thanks for the suggestion about CBeebies - we've had a little look. I suppose I was just trying to avoid running up huge phone charges - I dont use the internet that much and we 'pay as you go' rather than unmetered so thought if DD spent a little while on them it would be cheaper to buy a CD. Will investigate tho and see how she goes.
