Jolly Phonics?

DS1's school is big on Jolly Phonics. He is doing well with reading, and can actually read some small words now. Is it worth buying the books? Can I just buy books? I looked online, and there seemed to be a wide range of options, but no simple "this book has all the phonemes and the gestures, here ya go" option.

ELC stock them. I'm not sure on their content though. Sorry, not very helpful really.

I've brought the jolly phonics cd from elc and have it on in the car ALL the time. Even when I was driving to work I realised I'd got there having sung along to the whole of the CD without the kids being in the car . I've found that its really helping ds as he seems to be struggling a little with letters and the sounds that they make.

There is a handbook for about £20 which has all the gestures, and loads of photocopiable stuff. I would start with that. Ds's school taught the sounds etc but uused different books. I did get a set of JP books but wasn't that thrilled with them tbh.

there are loads on amazon. Mostly aimed at teachers but I'm sure you would find something there that covers what you want.

There is a parents guide and dvd's which may help to start .The workbooks are quite fiddly for lo's but Finger Phonics are mroe starightforward.

Yeah, I think it's the Jolly Learning site that annoyed me, with lots of big packs of books.

I don't think I want a CD (or a video!), I think I want books.

I hadn't thought to try Amazon, I'll look there.

we've got the dvd and dd(only 3) loves it. We just do it for fun every so often but she has certainly picked up lots of her sounds this way. thinking of getting some of the finger phonics as they seem like fun.
we also got the lotto game which gets them to put sounds on the right picture and has words on the other side for older children.
